Doug Stands behind place kicker?????

Bottomline: If you are setting up for a FG kick...put the ball in a position to be kicked in the center of the field not on the left hash.

I agree if it's the end of a half or game but on a 3rd down your goal is a first down or td.

Ultimately yes...but sometimes in a situation like 3rd and 23 from the 33 yard line you design a play that will get you 7-8 yards if the defense is giving you that. And hope he can break it for another 15.

Well, over four years we have had three different ST coaching arrangements.

And the assignments have not made all that much difference. Gosh, Casullo was viewed as a great ST coach and he struggled

Once again it's not about the coach. It's about the players.

It's a combo of coaches/players-why do major league baseball teams have pitching coaches hitting coaches? Why does almost every d1 football team have ST Coaches-obviously theres a reason-maybe its a techical issue maybe its mental but you need a coach with knowledge about kickers/punters/ko schemes punting schemes etc-Krautman had a ST Coach in Casullo and was 18/19 with no blocks. Since then he's had 6 blocked kicks which we cant correct. Other teams must see a flaw in our blocking schemes and capitalize on it. Whatever it is we are in desperate need of a ST Coach for next season

Nah you're right, I've got nothing to base this on other than the notion 'Could he really be worse'. The answer to that without any hard evidence is yeah I guess he could be. It's just maddening that our K is only hitting 65%, not including blocks.
One thing we are all in agreement on is, it's maddening. When a kicker lines up from 40 on in...we should all be pretty comfortable he will make it. Instead, we fans are on pins and needles cringing at the thought of a missed FG, a block, and even worse, a return!

Right.

The Phillies changed hitting coaches last summer in the middle of the season.

And nothing changed - Ryan Howard still struck out too much etc.

Krautman is not performing because he has developed the yips - that has nothing to do with coaching.

Our KO guy is doing an outstanding job this year - not because of coaching but because he happens to have a great leg.

Casullo could not defend against schemes employed by Maine and Colgate. His teams struggled.

And that was probably due to the players.

And now we have players who are young and who are getting better and better with experience.

Yeah so I'm vocal and passionate about my football teams. And if you can't vent frustrations on here then what's the point? Maybe if a few more people were like me in this area then we wouldn't have 1/3 of the seats empty this Sat. No, instead people quietly get fed up and stop going. We have a top 10 team in the country coming, anyone want to bet we don't get over 40k actual fannies in the seats? Fan stands for fanatic, just like me. :D

You can vent all you want. But be prepared for other folks to respond if the disagree.

Got to the word coddling and literally did this at my desk

I'm out. Self-ban. See you all after the Louisville game.

Is it overblowing the issue when our kicking team is the difference between where we stand now and bowl eligibility?

Ehh, you can say that about any number of players or units.

The Sales argument is the worst. People act like he was some All-American in 2008 and 2009. He was a decent receiver. Then he was so bad in practice that someone unfamiliar with SU football would've thought he was a bottom level walk-on. The kid just didn't practice well at all. It wasn't until the Pinstripe Bowl where the mythology of "Marcus Sales- gamer" came about.

And guess what? Sales practices really hard now. He looks great in practice and in games. I'd say Doug's philosophy worked.

It's 1 day before kickoff. I won't be posting anything negative today. Swear. Time to look forward to tomorrow, not dwell on the past. Go Cuse!

At some point you have to look past practice Doug. There are those who excel on gameday and those who don't. We need winners on the field, not those who practice well. I don't care how good somebody is in practice with nothing on the line. We need people on the field who can get it done during a game. We saw the same nonsense with Sales 2 years ago, Doug wouldn't play him because of practice issues. Fact is he was still the best WR on the team last year when it came time to play for real. Now it's the opposite, he keeps sending Krautman out there even though the kid is less than 60% on the year after 9 games. He is 40% from 40+. This is infuriating. Lichtenstein can't be this bad.

doug would stand behind a manuer spreader
