DT Curtis Harper has graduated

He wasn’t.

We went 1-10 and were national laughing stocks. It wasn’t ridiculous to assume there’d be an inordinate amount of transfer-outs especially considering the core of our defense opted for the draft.

We could have gone 10-1, and the "core of our defense" would STILL have opted for the draft.

Those 3 guys were always expected to potentially move on after this season, even before the season started.
The season record was irrelevant to that decision.

i agree but the point is, all things considered its easy now to look back and say “wow the thought of mass transfers was ridiculous”.

Our team was arguably rock bottom after Louisville. It ended up being negative false conjecture but it wasn’t irrational. All in all I’m obviously glad to have been wrong and underestimated Babers.

I love Curtis and I hope he’s back but he’d be transferring laterally at best, if even there are peer suitors. Kids think they’re worth more on the open market than they actually are. What everyone is missing (and I think players are too) is that the market is saturated and every team is in the same boat with limited scholarships. There are very few teams with less than 20 kids signed.

Very true but given his achievement academically, maybe he would have his eye on post grad degree targets if he were to go in the portal. Didn’t we have a LB a few years back who transferred to U Penn? Sometimes the change is not driven by football priorities. Please note I am saying “if” here, I wouldn’t want people to think I am jumping to any conclusions or anything...heeeeyyyyyooooo! ;) As he is still on the team, I look forward to his continued success with Bear next year.

Wait...aren't you the one who started the thread that Taj Harris was starting drama?

I asked a question if people thought he was or if people thought it would. I stated my opinion and thought that there was the potential that it could and wanted to see what others thought.

This is a discussion board that’s what you do or at least that’s what I thought...

Also, I stated my opinion on what I thought he was saying.

doesn’t mean it is. But when I read that statement it sounds like he’s certainly leaving the door to open to transfer.

Once again, I hope he doesn’t.

I can see how the wording can lead to those thoughts. I had to read it over a couple times as well.

The podcasts I listen to (Shutdown Fullcast and Split Zone Duo) made fun of Michigan, Auburn, Penn State, Akron/Bowling Green, LSU, Tennessee, V Tech, Mississippi State, ULM, and Kansas FAR more than Cuse.

Thats because those podcasts know that this year doesn't matter for Syracuse. Just ask our fans. Penn St and Michigan didn't have to deal with Covid and injuries like we did. Nothing to laugh at here, we get a pass. Denial is the new normal.

What are you talking about?

True was saying we were a national laughing stock. I’m saying aside from the Rex ending, no one talked about us. Which is probably worse, but that’s not the point he was making.

You mean Colton Moskal? He transferred to U Penn to attend their Wharton School of Business. Knew that was going to happen when we were up for the official visit; he told us (was Steven's chaperone).

I’m amazed at how many people still try to decipher tweets. Even if you had the decoder ring, people change their minds all the time, quickly. By the time you figured it out, a 20 year old could’ve made 4 different decisions.

Also, we were 1-10. Not for any singular reason or doing of or by Curtis, but in the aggregate, how much is it going to hurt losing someone?

Getting into Wharton is a hell of an accomplishment. Only a 9% acceptance rate and "MBA graduates of Wharton earn an average $159,815 first year base pay not including bonuses"

You're right about trying to decipher tweets much less trying to figure out motives of someone we don't personally know, much less college age individuals who still have freedom to pursue what they see fit without burdens of adulthood mandating safe/secure choices.

As to losing one of our only fully grown DTs though... It would hurt. Thankfully don't think he's leaving but if the right opportunity arises for him, couldn't fault him. These players don't owe fans anything, the relationships are one way streets.

What I'm saying is it's twitter. You can't read a lot into a kids' tweets.
All I got from reading the tweet was a kid who was proud of his accomplishment of graduating early.
He's not in the portal and he could do that easily being a graduate.
And most importantly money3189 says we shouldn't read into that tweet. Knowing Money I'd say that Curtis is probably not transferring.
You had better be right coach. ;)

That was him, thanks. Couldn't remember.
