Decent player. Always overrated by the fan base and going forward we need to upgrade from these type of players.

Uh, Duce was our highest rated croot in a decade coming in.

And was a Frosh AA player, per ESPN.

AND led the team w 3 INTs that season.

Yeah, we totally need to upgrade from these sorta players.

Now, it’s fair to say he hasn’t improved since then, or perhaps even regressed.

He was prone to getting beat, badly, on double-moves.

And while he’s generally a good tackler, his angles this year were turrible.

Fran is in of the best DB coaches in the country.
Let’s hope he can get Duce back to being the player we all hoped he would be by now.

Duce is good athletically...straightline speed and size.
But his DB techniques are brutally bad. Yup, his tackling angles
leave much to be desired. But on TD passes over the middle, you
would also see the "0" trailing the play or out of position.
He needs discipline and the ability to diagnose what is happening on
each play and not get "looked off" by the QB.

Overrated? I guess you haven’t seen the game threads.

My biggest gripe was Fran publicly saying we’re moving him to safety because that’s his best path to the pros. He has no future in the NFL - just the cold truth here - so put him in the best position to help this team. Playing corner takes geometry out of the equation.

This is true. What he is best at is reading “likely” running plays and getting to the ball. Above average there. Reading and reacting on pass plays and tackling in the secondary are weaknesses. His skill set might be best used at the star position. A “down hill” player for sure.

This is a net good thing. Has he hit all the hype since his freshman AA days? Maybe not but he is a solid, known quantity, seems to bleed Orange in a depleted secondary. Sign me up…welcome back Duece!
