Don't be so sure of that. He makes at least 2.4 Million a year there. They gave him a boatload of cash. Thats why he left Marquette.

I still can't believe they got him from Marquette, but money talks.

I know Okafor is a great player, but does anyone else get the feeling Duke's a bit overrated like they have been the past couple years? I know this board would be up in arms if we had a top ten team struggling against V. Tech, and we have had close games with them this year that we ultimately won, but something seems missing with them.

They are a great offensive team, but they still struggle defensively like they have for a few years now. Kenpom has them ranked as the best offensive team, but 81st ranked defensive team. Compare that to us and we are 38th in defense. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they got beat the first weekend again.

I don't know what it is, but they really have been trending toward being heavily weighted to the offensive end for a few years, like you said. 3 of the last 4 years, they've ranked 80th or worse defensively. The last 2 years they have been incredible offensively, but it's hard to win a title with one side of the ball being that bad. You can talk about the 2010 team not being good or whatever, but they were #1 offensively and #8 defensively.

screw that, I'd never root for Duke. Trust our boys to handle business whether Duke's coming off a loss or not.

It's still VT. His next step would be a basketball school with better resources to enable better/easier recruiting. If he's compelling enough to hire at that point, money won't be an issue. I don't expect Bennett or Buzz to stick around the state of Virginia too long.

I know Virginia Tech has no history in basketball, but i think they are finally using some football money to invest in the program. Not to mention they are a state university, so they have the resources to spend on the program if they want to. They just never have before. It hasn't been important to them. He actually was the 9th highest paid head man in the country last year.
