Duke -7.5 over Cuse…..

Insane for such a winnable game, at home.

3 point for the home team right? So Duke is a 10 point favorite on a neutral field? In what universe.

Also I’m pretty sure duke lost to Tulane who just got smushed. And blown out by a mediocre, extremely overrated Illinois team… who also just got skywalkered/order 66’d.

Agree. Possibly due to Angeli injury and Collins being unknown. Plus the Duke QB having a big game. Let's see if it moves.

Our run game yesterday was strong because of our pass game. When they adjusted to the run, we took advantage of 1 on 1’s in the passing game. We need to be able to push the ball down the field and let our WR’s do what they can do to create lanes for Yasin and Nixon.

Lol Angeli isn't worth 10pts to the line I promise you.
Duke is just one of those teams the hedge fund type bettors love. Moved the ball vs Illinois, killed themselves. But I mean ya, that doesn't look like such a good L anymore.

I looked at this quickly and was proud of my 6.5 prediction. Then looked a second time and realized I was off by a freaking mile.

If you use Sagarin predictor, Syracuse would be around a 3.5 pt favorite on a neutral field. Add in home field boost and it’s 6.5 pts. This line is fairly amazing and hard to explain - I can see an adjustment for a backup QB - but 14 points is a wild swing.

EDIT - Sagarin predictor used to be a good predictor of college football lives, but it’s gotten increasingly worse in the last five years. So it may not be a great way to evaluate this - if anyone objects to my use of Predictor, I wouldn’t argue in favor of its use very hard.

yup but the reverse happened vs NC st as well gave up 500 yds but NC st turned it over 4 times.

One interesting note is that finally we see a jump in the ESPN FPI. up 17 and now 4 teams we play are behind us with SMU just a couple ahead of us.

I guess if you view the fact we had like less than 50 yds of offense with Rickie in the game then yea we should be big dogs.

I guess if you take out that he threw an 18 yard touchdown to give us a 20 point lead, so after that the absolute critical thing was to not make a mistake (turnover) that gave Clemson a chance - that would make sense.

I don’t take much positive or negative from the fourth quarter offensively. Play calling was extremely conservative, and the main goal for Collins was “don’t screw this up”. Maybe Collins will be good, maybe he’ll be terrible - anyone that thinks anything in the fourth quarter qualifies as evidence either way is reaching. (For clarity, I don’t think the 18 yard TD is evidence either).
