Duke Gameday...

I know that Kempney made an attempt but in my opinion it is much harder to make the switch for an offensive player than it would be for a defensive player. I think a guy like Gonsiorek should try. He has good size, speed and likes to be physical. Id even try Bolognino. He has already been on the field and has very good speed.

Yeah I would certainly think between all the poles we have just sitting on the bench that 1 or 2 could be a solid SSDM for sure. I would hope they would give guys a chance if they volunteer.

We several guys that are done after this year. empty the bench on that position and see if someone can handle it.

If I was sitting on the bench and knew my team needed help at a position I’d be all over it.

If you think our clearing woes are bad now, just wait until one of those poles converts to SSDM and is asked to clear it.

Players are at Syracuse. Are you saying they aren’t good enough and shouldn’t be at Syracuse?

Clearing it or trying to run thru double or triple teams? cause clearing it should be hard now trying to run thru double team or more i wouldn’t even want offensive guy doing thay to clear.

shouldn’t be hard

what about scott? who has played short stick in box? feel like he would be the clear choice n not sure why he hasn’t even seen field besides clean up time. Maby i’m old fashioned but if starter or whatever isn’t doing what i asked or need or just isn’t looking like giving full effort. I would sit them for someone else. Maby not games or season but even qtr or few runs at first. Some kids need a kick in the behind to get thru to. I think kids these days are soft (sorry) mean i’m only 38 but had older brothers n sisters (not youngest tho middle child) but i don’t understand kids now days who can’t take any kind of criticisms. Now there’s line think shouldn’t be crossed but that’s diff convo.

But if kid isn’t doing something show them there is consequences for their actions or even lack of effort. I don’t know who’s redshirted or not but if scott or bologna or whatever or any player who isn’t red shirted seems be giving more effort then starter or top guy. Give them a shot. I played everything back my day. i took faceoffs i played dmid even pole when man down. Play in men’s league now n tho i’m clearly better at offense i play lsm cause don’t have many poles or many poles who can handle the ball let alone pick ball up n carry it. So fact kids at syracuse i bet they can play a decent level going from d pole to short or whatever.

I am saying that there is a reason most college SSDMs played offense in high school. Clearing the ball is a big part of playing that position in college. Having 1 SSDM on the field who isn't trusted to handle and make decisions is a huge liability.

Saam Olexo, an excellent pole with a solid handle as an LSM, was given a short stick in 2021 and struggled in the clear, if I remember correctly. Andrew Helmer, before him, also struggled in that area when converted in 2019-2020.

It's an option, no doubt. But the clear, which we're already concerned about, is likely a partial cause for the staff's potential reservation to convert 1-2 of the depth defenders into SSDMs.

Just throwing this out there tho has rumored it but pretty sure more of joke at unc . But what bout getting bellichik to coach? lol He seems to be very good at seeing players potential or where they could best be used even if not spot they played before or mostly. That’s something great coach needs. To see the true skill in someone even if they don’t themselves. I vote for us to get bill bellichck to coach if gait isn’t the answer lol. Clearly a joke
