It absolutely blows for tailgates. Getting to the point where it’s not worth the trip. And besides that, it leads to an awful game atmosphere, which hurts SU for home games. TV dictates too much in college football nowadays.I think I’m one of the few people on this board who doesn’t gaf about the kickoff time.

ACC Announces Week 5 TV Networks and Game Times
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference and its television partners have announced the following football game times and networks for Week 5 of the season, which features seven games over September 26-27.theacc.com
- Duke at Syracuse – Noon ET on ACC Network
Why does SU have a bad noon game atmosphere when thats really the most traditional time of all for a college game?
Irrelevant. People aren’t stoked for noon starts. The students are barely awake and arrive late. It’ll be late first quarter before the Dome is close to full. The game is almost sold out. Parents Weekend.
We’ll be likely be 3-3. We’ll probably get a noon start for Pitt.Let’s win a few and get a better slot for Pitt. That would be a great night game atmosphere if we can get it.
I recall that the traditional time for SU home games was 1pm or 1:30pm.The traditional time for College football is 3:30 or a night kick. The Noon slot has gained steam the last 5-7 years but it's never been a time programs wanted or desired. There's a reason the OSU fanbase is in open revolt over all the Noon kicks.
It’s a bad time to create a good atmosphere across college football. There’s this thing called alcohol. And fans get more excited about the game when there’s more lead up.,There’s a reason why many of the marquee matchups and best atmospheres are night games. Why does SU have a bad noon game atmosphere when thats really the most traditional time of all for a college game?
That was ages ago.I recall that the traditional time for SU home games was 1pm or 1:30pm.
I’m sure it’s been brought up before, so I’m not contributing a new thought, but are SU’s chances for getting a 7/8pm start decreased by the presence of Cal and Stanford? The west coast schools can’t host a 12pm Eastern game, so that means it’s more likely for SU to have an early start.
It's become basically a tv show that fans can go watch live.It absolutely blows for tailgates. Getting to the point where it’s not worth the trip. And besides that, it leads to an awful game atmosphere, which hurts SU for home games. TV dictates too much in college football nowadays.
Does Fran realize the atmosphere is dead for noon starts?Yes, the west Coast teams are absolutely playing a roll. IF you look at the Duke week, Stanford is playing San Jose State at home. The earliest the game can be played on East Coast time is 3:30. ACC ended up giving them the 730 ACC network slot. Not saying SU vs Duke deserves as 730 slot but I sure as hell know Stanford vs San Jose State doesn't. Some of it is also I think the ACC just rewarding the original schools. Same week of DUke the ACC has Va Tech vs NC State as the 7pm CW slot. Could have easily slotted SU there but again we get the Noon kick. I also think Fran likes Noon games so not sure SU is putting much pressure for non Noon kicks with the ACC which is a MAJOR mistake.
They do at schools where they take tailgating and football seriously. But still people think that most people drink and tailgate. It’s not like its 50% does either.
