affect meaning his state of consciousness and to that point he may not have led them anyplace in particular because of his fugue state of mind:

the dr. standing to the right and the helpers/trainers here at this point are still just observing to make sure he's ok with no more severe issue developing while watching for his mental state with questions etc.

the best thing for us to do is watch the replay video for how this all plays out, the hit, the aftermath, the lack of orthopedic eval. with mostly observation, etc. Theres NO DOUBT in this trained mind to look for this type thing that he's sustained a concussion and shafer pretty much confirmed as such. Now he more than likely sustained other injury as well but head trauma concussive impact is most certainly or at least likely part of the picture. You can get multiple injuries from one trauma.

They may not and likely will not detail or enumerate this reality vis a vis the head trauma part for a variety of reasons, competetive, legal and otherwise, but it is an absured notion to any of us experienced and trained in this area to deny what appears to be the reality of the situation.
I hope you're wrong

yeah look at the picture accompanying that article sunday, DIRECT head shot. How the guys wasn't tossed out is beyond me. The ACC and college football in general needs to do post game retrospective reviews on these things if they want to save the game long term.
I guess your so called trained eye isn't very good now is it? You want it to be a concussion but it isn't !

here's what the thinking is. Won't bore the board with too many details again how and why I'm tuned in to this but stuff but basically played the game, had concussions, gave concussions, now study concussion and brain related issues as a long time teacher of neuroanatomy/neurophysiology. We look for the "mechanism of injury" first as to how it happened. Heres how this (the latest head trauma hit) occurred: that's a direct head to head hit at a high velocity. It may have started out on his shoulder/clavicle which very well may be injured as well but the force subsequently impacted into his helmet with some lateral whiplash like effect as well as close analysis of the picture and video suggest. Subsequent to this he lay in pain on the field. Next thing we dr. types do is Observation to start to get our differentials together of variety of possible diagnosis: post hit and shortly thereafter he did not immediately reach for his shoulder, his ribs or his collar bone which is the first thing we humans do after injury(think hitting your thumb with a hammer and immediately grabbing it). I'll continue this in another post as only 2 bits of media are allowed per post it appears.

I respect your opinion - but live - he reached for his collarbone almost immediately.

I think before you try to make medical diagnoses you should make sure you know all the facts You are simply guessing and any good medical provider should know all the details before showing their so called expertise If this doesn't turn out to be a concussion then this simply makes you look incompetent

You are impugning the integrity of the Syracuse medical staff.

and the reason he didn't reach in pain for the shoulder, etc. and the reason they don't immediately orthopedic evaluation on anything in particular is he was in a confused state and they were more concerned about his affect post trauma:View attachment 53647

my only quibble is i don't think people generally writhe around in pain when they've gotten a concussion. As you said, "the confused state" would make a person lie still and rolling around may even induce some level of vertigo. I think in general people who've suffered a hit to the head lay still.

The way he rocked back and forth with his leg(s) moving up and down tapping the ground, he looked to me to be in some sort of chest/collar/shoulder pain or maybe even had the wind the knocked out him.
