He goes we go. Plain and simple. Everything else is irrelevant. Defense will come and go. Minimal athletes at WR, RB, and O line.

Defense looks to have some parts and pieces but at some point you have to look at the DC.

Devito? I don’t want to hear a peep until Dungey gets hurt or graduates but TD looked like Austin Wilson to me. Not saying he won’t get better but Dungey is beyond light years better than TD right now. In addition the whole team slumped when Dungey was taken out. Babers getting too cute fur his own good

I am not sure any player in all of d1 has a greater impact on their team than Dungey does. That doesn't mean he's the best because he isn't, but compared to every other player out there in orange and what he brings as a leader...

Dungey is this teams leader through and through. He is far from the only talent though. He was upset when he was taken out and semi dejected and it carried. He comes back and and you have energy. The young guys may end up showing their stuff to break into the rotation or supplanting the returning guys. To say no one else in our RB or WR starts in P5... I mean come on. That's just silly.

Austin Wilson?! Lol. He’d have thrown a few picks.

TD got his first snaps under his belt. He’ll be fine. Made some nice throws - just had classic deer in headlights at the speed of the game.

Agree 1000% that Dungey is the guy and should be treated at such.

Great post. We dont have an RB or WR that starts for any other ACC team and Ward isnt a P5 coordinator.
I thought Dontae and Moe played very well.

Dungeys are weapon and we ran our offense around him.

So who would Strickland start over? Custis? Butler?

So you honestly think any of our WRs or Backs are worse than every single other starter in P5 football?? Honestly? I'm not going to list players by team because I guarantee you don't know each and every single one. It's a silly statement.

If this is legitimately true then we will go 3-9 without a doubt. I presume that's your expectation?

I missed the P5 part as in another thread someone was talking just ACC, where yes we have the worst current starters. That doesn’t mean the guys behind them won’t be starters by year end. Why would we go 3-9 when we have one of the best players in the entire conference? Now that is silly.

We had one WR catch a pass. Our RB’s averaged 3 yards per carry. Our backup QB played 4 series and we didn’t score a point.

And we scored 55 points. Insane. Dungey was far and away the best player on the field. Frankly he was on a whole different level and everyone else was pretty much even.

Because it's a team game. And the way it was worded was essentially matter of fact. If we have the worst starting skill players in the ACC to go with one of the best I would argue that means 3-4 wins tops. Those guys including youngsters can change the narrative. I don't see them as worst in league. Agree to disagree on that.

We also didn't throw many passes overall. WMU didn't make the effort to take away Dungeys legs so we obliged not changing the script.

It's not like any of that is outlandish either though.

Gotta rewatch the game to really dig into how the other guys played given just how much Dungey had the ball in his hands. One game, it was live, we are all amped up, its too easy to toss way too many H0T Takes out there. Let's see what Wagner and more importantly FSU brings to see where the other skill guys are at.

Truer words my friend. Tommy is clearly going to be a better passer. His release is reidiculous and he throws and awesome ball but Eric Dungey is this team. Dungey is every cliche football quote you’re coach threw at you growing up. They straight up, play harder and more disciplined when he’s in. Dungey fights for them, they fight for Dungey. Favre/Rodgers effect. If Tommy wants to, he will learn SO much from Dungey.

To be clear not one would start for any other ACC team

IMO none of the three are P5 caliber starters. Strickland was 19th best RB last year in yards. Heck he was third on our team when you add the QB into the mix. He might be our worst starting RB in memory.

Custis showed a lot of promise tonight. I hope that he keeps it up. He did more tonight than his first three years here combined. But since we are in the present I guess it is a good thing for now.

Butler has DB hands. They also said that about ETA at MD so I won’t give up on Butler yet. But right now he isn’t where he needs to be.

Well then I guess you can take the season off then. Not much reason to stay tuned in rest of the way then right?

I think it's hard to evaluate players within a system when everything is so new. For 30 years it was a totally different style of football and now here we are. Need to see the young guys more and progress no doubt. Not even every ACC team has played and we are making these claims. I saw our wideouts doing a nice job blocking downfield for Dungey when he got loose. Custis showed something. Moe and Strick had moments but we clearly aren't a one back team. Whats more important is what everything comes together to be.

Agree 100%. You also can’t help but get slightly concerned that we’re still all Dungey in year 3.

He is our Russell Westbrook to cross sports for a minute. His play is about the ball being in his hands run or pass most of the time. I'm not sure he could be that effective and have the impact he does if limited to a lesser role as a QB. That is for better or worse but who he is. So to some degree he dictates a lot of that being the case.

His value as an emotional leader surpasses even what he produces though. I think because he is what he is, it makes it extremely difficult to really get a complete read on other skill players sometimes. He is a blast to watch and we are lucky to have hi .
