The pervasive thread through nearly everyone's laments were that Dungey was injured and thus incapable of playing well.

Win against NC State...nothing. I don't see anyone saying this anymore.

What happened? Miraculous recovery? Did he take one of those vodka-collagen recovery baths? Did Syracuse hire a voodoo witch-doctor who is now on staff?

Somebody. Throw me a bone here.

I think he's still not 100%. You could still see it on some of his throws. Where I think he made strides was staying in the pocket longer to let the routes develop. He made some great throws but the receivers also had to step up and make some big time catches. I'm sure TD makes those catches a little easier, but at the same time, some of the RPOs are still above Tommy's pay grade at this point in his career.

There was no injury. SU fans needed an excuse for a QB playing poorly. He was struggling with technique and confidence. (As he had previous seasons) Coach showed him the whip and he worked hard to concentrate more on his throwing technique and tuned into playing smart. Hope it continues.

Bodies heal without miracles, for crikey sakes.
Admittedly, I'm pretty dumb. But I'm struggling to see the difference between his injured body (Pittsburgh) and his healed one (NC State). Ergo the (admittedly snide) question.

Has nobody ever had joint issues that feel better sometimes and worse other times?

Possible that it’s overall getting better and he had a good day with it Saturday, as good days become more common as it heals?

Just a thought.

We have a number of contributors who have the extraordinary ability to detect and diagnose injuries through their TV screens.

Once the real or imagined injury is reported, we then have a host of medical experts chiming in based on their own experiences or of their second cousin's.

There are , of course, contributors on here that really do know what they are talking about when it comes to these injuries, their treatment and the likely impact on player availability. But it's all based on whether the player is actually injured and the extent of that injury.

Dungey's performance against NCSU suggests very strongly he wasn't injured previously or if so, it was so minor that by last Saturday he was healed.

What you will never read on here is, "Gee, I'm sorry. I must have been wrong about the extent of that player's injuries and the likely impact on the player's availability and/or performance".

Nope. Never had that happen. Joint injuries don't have good periods and than bad ones. They tend to heal at a steady pace. While not linear, it's not like they get better and than get worse and then better again like some sine wave.

Now they will get better and than worse if you keep re-injuring them.

He was 100% injured, and will remained banged up until after the season when he can get some rest.

That being said, not all his poor play can be blamed on his injury. There were some reads that he flat out missed and throws he could make that he just did not.

yeah but he kept wincing and shaking off every through.

Considering I have chronic ankle issues from playing sports(mainly basketball and soccer) I'll bite.

Yes some days my ankle kills and it hurts to run or even walk. Other days I feel nothing.

Anyone who says otherwise hasn't had chronic joint pain.

Shy tore his labrum camp sophomore year he played all season... some times he would get hit and his arm would go limp. He would be out for the next play in pain but able to go. Some days it wouldn’t hurt at all until he moved a certain way or got hit a certain way

Were you an athlete?

i agree. he can clearly make the throws.. but you need to have the mechanics to repeat it.

sometimes he rushes the throws. sometimes he sees the throws late... what was clear he had lots of time to make most of his throws sat night and he made many of then.. far fewer what was that throws.

its like most of us playing SS. give us the routine ground ball, pick it up and step into it and throws are fine.. now makes us move 2-3 steps and not be able to plant and suddenly its a lollipop throw

not at the D 1 level for sure, but played against D1 players enough to know what i could and couldnt do.

played bball with D1 players, played golf with guys on the PGA tour, played fball against D3 all americans, played softball with guys who are in the national hall of fame

Of course you would say this. You can't give anyone credit once you tear them down.

The 3rd and 21 play to Riley was as good as it gets. As was the 82 yard pass to Johnson. It went 55 yards in the air on the money.

You really didn't see any difference in Dungey's throwing between those 2 games?

What Dungey might have had or had is not long term, chronic joint pain.

That sounds to me like you are experiencing injury or post-traumatic arthritis given it's long term and its refusal to heal completely. Regular sprained ankles don't last forever. Injury arthritis does and it's symptoms are what you are reporting.

You might want to have that looked at by an orthopod.

I've had frozen shoulder. PT, time and patience is what it took to feel better.
