Eddie Lampkin

Maybe so but UConn and Purdue each had a big lumbering center in 2024 and were in the championship game.

So just get one of the two best bigs in the country that are also NBA-level players and then we can do that. Got it.

Come on.

The fact that we can run a good portion of offense through Lampkin is all the more reason for Carlos to play way less. JJ won't have to do all of the playmaking, which is not his strength.
Need players who can pass to him in good position without turning it over. JJ so far isn’t much of a passer with almost as many turnovers as assists. Carlos by far has the best assist/turnover ratio (74 to 32), sadly no one else even comes close. Ball security has been a real issue on the team turning the ball over and giving up steals.

i wanna see the ball dumped to eddie at the free throw line and have him pump and fake and pass or score

he doesnt tiuch the ball enough imo

the team struggles to make entry passes...which then almost forces any post player to chuck it up given the rare situation they have the ball in the post

I'm really split on this. He does a lot of good things, but also turns the ball over a lot. Turnovers, I don't think, matter much in a vacuum. The important thing is having fewer than your opponent. If we forced 20 turnovers a game, I'd say give it to Eddie all day long. But if we only force 5, then him turning the ball over 3 times becomes huge.

Do we run any zoom actions with Eddie at the 3 point line? I can't recall any specifically, but that doesn't mean we haven't.

Have noticed since Carlos has come off the bench his turnovers haven't hurt as much.
When he was playing all those minutes, there were a lot of turnovers which resulted in fast breaks the other way for 2 points.
It seems he has adapted to watching the opponents from the bench, and realizing the passes he can and can't make.

Carlos dribbling into nowhere or not being able to finish at the rim isn't technically a turnover in the stat sheet, but it shows in other metrics which is why he had the lowest OBPM on the team. He's a net negative on offense. 10-15 mins. More if he's playing well. Fine with that.

We are lucky that bad shots don't count as turnovers - we definitely lead the league, if not the country, in that category. So many bad shots leading to easy buckets on the other end.

True, but Eddie also needs to handle the ball better. Sometimes he looks like he's got grease on his fingers. Doesn't always turn it over but fumbles around with the ball so it allows the defender to make a play at the ball and/or Eddie then takes a tougher shot.
