Elijah Moore transferring from Utah

The list of players who struggled as freshmen and had good careers after is quite long. Moore had more success than a lot of players that ended up fan favorites here.
Maybe my expectations were too high but was hoping for more than 3-4 impactful games considering his recruiting rank and some people thinking his ranking was even underrated. Market wasn’t too impressed either. Utes haven’t been relevant in 9 years.

With the HS kids they're recruiting them in many cases since 8th grade and sign as juniors and fans are waiting for two years for them to step on the court. He showed what his upside could be. Didn't seem like the coaches developed him at all as the season wore on. ...and now he's on some random school he never once considered. It all seems like a giant waste of time and resources.

Yeah, no question. I can't even imagine the toll this has on coaches who are recruiting these kids for years and they land them but they leave after one year.

It would be really interesting if there was a way to measure the development of players in today's portal/NIL era to the development of players when they (most) stayed at one school. I think there are a lot of negative consequences of this wild wild west that most people don't even discuss, and I'm talking player development as well as development as a young person.

Holy crap for some reason I completely forgot about this kid. When I think of last year I think of Carlos, JJ, Bell, Jyare, Lampkin, Donnie
I was literally just about to post this same exact thing.

Played a total of 5 minutes this season. At one point had a concussion so I don't know how much he missed due to injury. But I wonder if his personal reason was lack of PT.

I feel bad for him because he was a hard worker and loved Syracuse. I wish he would have stayed and worked on the areas where he needed to improve. That is the problem with the ease of transferring through the portal, players can run away and not stay and address/fix the issues.

When you look at all the players who left our program for more playing time instead of staying and fixing their deficiencies in order to earn playing time, not one have found greener pastures as their problems followed them (From Goodine, Anslem, Carey, Woody, Taylor and more).

Look up Goodine. He went to various schools after us and ended up being successful. Averaged 8 pts a game last year at Oklahoma at shot 42% from 3.

Nate George has to start driving, and both Kyle and White need to hit those defensive boards harder.

I hope whatever personal matters kept him away from the team this past season can be left in the past so he can find a fresh start somewhere.

Personally, I like seeing guys like Chance Westry and Quadir Copeland finally seem to figure it out and overcome adversity even if it’s not at Syracuse. Part of growing up.

Looks like he is 35 years old.
