For those attending tomorrow, if they have a Q&A, could someone ask:

"With Jordan Brand expanding their footprint to beyond basketball as seen by Oklahoma, Florida and Michigan being under their umbrella, why wasn't Syracuse considering their links to the brand?"
Im pretty sure we have a lot deeper ties with Nike then the Jordan brand. We have been with Nike for almost 40 years at this point as a university.

Jordan Brand is Nike. The other schools mentioned also have deep ties yet flipped to their sub brand. It's a valid question especially on the basketball side which is what this school is known for like it or not.

How do you know they have not considered it? Nike is Nike.

Well, part of the helmet is right, but I have an unshakable confidence in Nike’s ability to still screw it up.

Here’s to the inevitable orange - grey - grey

Seriously, please, please, please give me O-B-O *fingers crossed*

Jordan brand would be huge as it plays a major part in recruiting... special edition Jordans that only athletes receive are always all over the Internet and receive massive publicity to the school and program... The sneaker world is insanely popular with kids 16-18 as we know... would love to see that happen

I think Nike likes to keep it exclusive and with UNC being the flagship Jordan Brand ACC school I don’t think it’s likely.

They seem to be keeping it to one team per conf. OU, Mich, Florida, Hou... Gtown and Marquette hoops only.

North Carolina is the only school in the ACC that is Jordan Brand no chance they would allow another conference school to wear that brand

They don’t have a say, and it’s not like Jordan brand isn’t substantially (or possibly entirely) owned by Nike. And it’s not like SU doesn’t have a really strong connection to MJ. (For anyone who doesn’t know, MJ went to UNC, but he daughter went to SU.)

Yes Jordan brand is owned by Nike but there are only 4 power 5 teams that are Jordan brand North Carolina (Jordan alumni) Michigan (big 10) Florida (sec) and Oklahoma (big12) it seems like Jordan brand is one per conference and since North Carolina is a Jordan brand school it’s unlikely that SU would be one but that is a non starter since the announcement this past weekend that they would continue to be Nike brand

...or there are 4 schools because it’s a niche brand (compared to mother Nike), and the odds of there being 2 in the same conference aren’t exceptionally high.

But you’re right. It’s all a moot point now.

Marquette and GTown wear it.

You're making an assumption based on the fact that only a few teams wear Jordan. You have no idea how many have tried or even want to.
