Enough with the 10 win season

Anyone using the 2018 season as evidence that Dino is a great coach is being absolutely Rutgerian...
Win:
10 - a neutered WV team without its NFL draft pick QB, WR, and OT
HC with a plane ticket to Houston in his hip pocket.
9 - a 40% AJ Dillon for 1 quarter, then no AJ for the other 3.
8 - a mutiny roster against a lame duck psycho coach.
5 - overtime win at home against worst team in the ACC. We also never even get to overtime if their starting TE catches a 6 yard 1st down pass that I could catch 9 out of 10 times.

It was a great season, where all the dominoes landed perfectly for us. A once in a generation alignment. But to say Dino is a great coach because of 10 wins, c'mon...
Meh... every season, good and bad has games that should have or could have gone this way or that. You are what your record says you are. But I would say 2018 could certainly have bounced to two fewer wins. AND last year could certainly have bounced to two MORE wins. Things on the whole balance out. It’s probably accurate to say HCDB is 15-11 since the beginning of 2018.

Conveniently missed out on playing Clemson @ Death Valley hard. In fact I think we should have won if a few more breaks happened.
I was actually being kind. TL's first college start and he got knocked out before the half. Do you remember the name of the Clemson qb that beat us?
I don't...

No but he was probably a 5 star player like the rest of their team.

So other teams losing starters/projected starters is a point against Babers, but Syracuse losing several projected starters is also a point against Babers?

I don't love or hate Babers. My point is that the 10 win season had a frightening high number of turning points that went our way. Don't think Dino was responsible for a dominant 10 win team. Also Dino, with some luck, probably gets us to a bowl in our 5-7 seasons too.

Yeah P got 10 wins, and then he did it again. Oh yeah, then he did it a 3rd time. Wait, he also got 9 wins, then again, and again. It seems this post isn't really holding up to scrutiny. How it got 2 likes is a mystery to me.
The 1st two ten win seasons were with Mac's players. During Donovan's years we consistently underachieved with very good talent.

What about the other 10 win season and the three 9 win seasons? Does he get credit for those?

Isn’t he the kid who is starting at Duke right now
Touche

Edit: Really pisses me off that they can lose Kelly Bryant on Monday, lose Trevor Lawrence at the half, and then still have this guy available to save them...

Bama was the same way with Hurts and Tua.

why is it so hard to say, "everything went right for SU that year, that's why they went 10-3", and
then, "well, not everything went right, so SU didn't win ten games"? they had a great year, had
30+ sacks, and forced 30+ TOs. you'll win a lot that way, that's what VaTech did for a long time.
they were just able to repeat it, which SU has not (yet).

and with P ... he got to ten wins with Mac's guys, a good starting point. then, with probably the
best overall talent/teams SU has had in decades, he didn't win ten games again, even against
a diluted Big East. the fact he couldn't with mcnabb is almost criminal.

SU is just not a ten win program; they might be an 8-5 program, then hope for some things to
go their way. among those things I'd hope is not to be one of the most penalized teams in
college football. that would be a start.

2001 has a bone to pick with you.

The Mac’s Players thing doesn’t fly on two levels: many coaches get a program with good players and very few get to 10 wins back to back. You can’t downplay that achievement.

Also, Mac won 8 and 7 his last two years with Mac’s Players so P’s accomplishment is a solid one.

Chase Brice... now at Duke??? I believe he was a mid-high four star

Anyone can post banal, forgettable nonsense.

Starting trash threads on the other hand...
Hey, by your profile pic, I'm sure you see Babers as the only savior out there for SU Football. I just don't think he's all that and a bag of chips. Dino is in that group of half a dozen coaches in the ACC that are middle of the road. But, I think there are plenty of other guys in the country that could match his current success. And certainly, improve upon his mental mistakes, clock management miscues, head scratching play calling...

His under study, Sean Lewis, off the top of my head. But, Louisville, Georgia Tech, and West Virginia, seem to have struck instant gold with their choices...
