Enrique Cruz transferring to Kansas

Just talked with him. Has nothing to do with money, just wants to play his final year. Coach Williams said he would be ranking all of the offensive linemen from first to last and apparently he did not see a road to regular playing time in the fall. Sat all of last year after being on the field almost every play the year before but he remained all in on Fran and the program.

Stressed repeatedly how much he appreciated everything we’ve done did for him and said it made things so much easier for him and his family.

We’ll have dinner together sometime before graduation and say our goodbyes. We could not have hoped for a better partner in our first foray into the NIL world. Enrique is an outstanding young man who will be successful whatever life holds for him and will always be a fine ambassador for Syracuse University. Nothing but love for him and his wonderful family!
Total class act! He’ll do well wherever he goes or whatever he does in the future.

Start of the farewell tour!
We will miss Enrique.

It should be noted that the other really tall guy here is Joe Cruz, the Pride of Long Island. I believe the guy in the white hoodie is Jordan Montanez, who played so well in the spring game.

It will be interesting to see what happens to him and other walk ones. Judge Wilkins’ last ruling appeared to open the door towards allowing schools to keep players already on the roster on the team even if it causes the team to exceed the 105 player limit.

So in theory anyway, SU has the option of keeping all the walk ons from last season that are returning on the roster. I hope it happens.

Jordan is in the portal. Said he got some aggressive messages on social media when he announced including an FU from one jerk.

Guy to the far left (half hidden) is another player. Not sure who!

Starting for Kansas at right tackle. Looks solid, did get called for a hold but is playing well against Fresno State.
Two penalties in a row for Enrique. But fortunately they didn't impact the drive as Kansas is looking good on offense so far.

He wasn't in on the last scoring drive. I know he was 50/50 on the starting job as of a week ago, so it might have been a planned rotation, but he might have penalized himself off the field.

*Edit

And he's back in the next drive.
