Insider article, so I will only clip the SU blurb out of it. Not much really said here, but nice to see our name up there.

The Gators had the nation's best QB class; here's which schools had the best in each of the remaining power conferences:

ACC
Syracuse is going to an open, uptempo offense next season, and on national signing day, the Orange signed a pair of quarterbacks who could be near-perfect fits. Four-star recruits Alin Edouard (Hialeah, Fla./Hialeah) and A.J. Long (Lebanon, Tenn./Friendship Christian) both fit the bill as athletically skilled, dual-threat prospects who can play fast and spin the ball.

Terrel Hunt is not going to be unseated. The offense will come together with a full year under GMAC and will be much more productive. When is the last time that a QB from a NYC high school was put up for the Heisman?

god I hope you are right, but i do believe you need to pump the brakes here

To be honest I wouldn't be suprised at all if Edouard just flat out won the job this year.

Why not back him the hilt. He doesn't have a mother or father to support him, he's only done good things, no great things , for the Cuse. If he falters the coaches will do the right thing for the team, until then he deserves a lot of support . What if he progresses and wins the first 5 games , aren't we going to be stupid for not at least having a little PR campaign . I want to see him grow into a better QB and person , and I think he will.

Agreed... Heisman talk is a little insane at this juncture.

I'd be willing to bet anything that Hunt will be the starter come opening day. Guaran-damn-teed.

Lets just by psyched we are getting this kind of press and let the guy's battle it out for starting. Do you recall us getting this kind of press in the last decade? I fuking love seeing this, it's awesome.

Notice I said this year not the first game. I give it mid season

I love the guy.

But he has deficiencies - he does not throw long particularly well, is not all that accurate and is relatively slow for a dual purpose QB.

He is smart and seems to be a great leader.

But, the young QBs will challenge him.

I would be shocked if a freshman came in and won the job by only practicing in fall ball. Not a chance.
He can win it before the season is over IMO. I hope Hunt blows every out of the water because that would mean we would be having a great year. With that being said I think he gets unseated before the year is over

If one of the young guys unseats Hunt midway through the season that would probably mean we aren't making a bowl. You don't change QBs unless something is seriously wrong.

I'm all for them challenging him. I think this season we will likely see Mitch Kimble and Austin Wilson as the primary backups with Edouard and Long redshirting. If either of those guys blows a redshirt year this season, it means we're in for a really rough season.

Agree, unless Wilson or Kimble are playing well above their heads, any QB battles are a 2015 discussion. Even then it's going to be hard to unseat a 2 year starting Hunt, unless he pulls a 2002 RJ in 2014.

He is not that fast but he is big and shifty. Doesn't take that many good clean hits. Really an interesting style. Heisman talk is silly. At this point NFL talk is silly. He can develop into a really good ACC QB that can bring us up a notch. That would be enough.

If he holds the reins for two more years, Austin and Kimble will be RS juniors and A.J and Edourd will be RS sophomores when Hunt graduates. That would be pretty cool.

The Heisman thing is about is about marketing and you need to be out front on that . Donny MacPherson lost the Heisman because Notre Dame had a real campaign. If that were to happen again , that would be horrible. Sometimes when you put high expectations on a person , they will meet the challlange and live to them. As I said before , I believe Hunt will be that guy.

If he holds the reins for two more years, one of those 4 underclassmen will have likely switched positions or transferred out because I just don't see us not taking at least one QB in future classes. And I don't see us carrying 6 or 7 QB's on the roster either.

On paper, I don't remember us having this much talent in house since at least when McNabb was here. Even then, there was Madei and ????

Hunt put up elite numbers against the lesser competition, and definitely improved by year's end. If the game slows down for him and receivers make the plays, he can be among the best in the conference. I think the most promising factors are that he & his coaches know exactly what he has to work on, and the incoming QBs will definitely keep the heat on, in the coming season and 2015.

Keith Downing and future-WR Kevin Johnson were also at QB with McNabb.
When McNabb graduated, Madei and Troy Nunes were our QBs.

Bingo if Hunt wins the job before the season, and is winning games, and playing well (aka like he did the BC game and Minnesota game) they won't bench him for Edouard midseason, they will just redshirt him, and he would be given the chance to take over in 2015

Eh. The head coach has said it'll be an open competition this spring. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for a returning starter who led the team to a bowl game.

Hunt has a massive head start on his competition, and whether the coach's decision is a motivational attempt or he honestly thinks another guy can win the spot is to be seen.

I don't think I'd be guaranteeing anything right now regarding the QB position. I know this...no matter what happens, the position will be upgraded next fall. That's all we ask. I think this staff wants a QB with wheels, and I mean above average speed.

Much of what McDonald wants to do depends on defenses having to account for the QB on every play. Not sure Hunt is that guy.

High class problem!
