Etan & Devo 4-22-25

I think most of us are SU fans and cheer for all their programs. Sad that egos are causing divisions between sports, between supporters- it’s just sad and counter productive for everyone, especially the university as a whole. There’s no excuse for personal attacks and hoping that mature discussions and open minds can resolve the differences for everyone’s sake so all of SU’s programs flourish in this new era.
 
Timing is interesting to see former basketball players feeling comfortable to speak on this publicly to try and get answers on why Weitsman isn’t involved anymore. Why the timing is fascinating, is the football part of the complex is now complete. Fundraising continues for many initiatives I’m sure, but certainly much better for Syracuse and us fans, if we can keep the Lally’s continued support and get AW back on board. People will keep going back to the AW situation because the outsider view is that AW was shunned for reasons no one can explain publicly.

AW also is like the divorced parent that leaves the community, but still interacts and maintain relationships with people very involved in the community which also just adds another interesting wrinkle in all of this.
 
Beyond unfortunate. Doesn’t paint a great picture behind the scene.
 
I don't think these guys understand that, on replay, their ad break comments are recorded and part of the replay, LOL!

Sometimes things are better left unsaid.



With that being said, there are legitimate reasons why the University removed itself from AW and if they publicly stated it, all would feel the same and agree with the university.

Id love to know how much Etan has donated and Devo to the university or its collectives recently before they continue to bash on the university?



P.S. there is a reason there is absolutely nothing on anything from the university with their names on it...take that as you will about how much $$$ they have donated.

That is a good strategy if you want people to continue to ask questions that won't get answered.

So what do the tea leaves say?

If the answer was said out loud, there would be slander or libel litigation??

No, I just dont think the university cares. They made a decision based on certain things and they are a private university and are entitled to not disclosing this information.

There is a reason why the university remains mum on it and AW and his friends continue to try to get the university to take him back...


Obviously, one side wants the other side more.

I didn’t see it like that at all. It appears to me like Devo and Etan were talking NIL and how to up the funds. Obviously this is going to bring donors that could possibly donate. Which then poses the question what happened to AW. Then the other donor poked into chat section drawing that donor name to the conversation. It didn’t appear one side wants it more to me.

I don't think people realize that dying on the hill of one single donor just reveals that the athletic department is in much worse shape than everyone thought. You cannot be held hostage by one person and their interactions with program alums. An institution like Syracuse should be well diversified in this aspect.

I think that has to be it. My experience, which I will share soon is almost unexplainable. I know there will be a news story about it.

Questions will be asked when your AD comes out and says the NIL is short and you've turned away a big fish donor who's seemingly at odds with other big fish donors.

Rich donors refusing to play in the same sandbox together is not a good look anyway you try and square it.

Syracuse is not keeping him away because he does not play nice with other donors. If that was the case there are others that they would have turned off by now.

Then people have the right to not support them if they choose to.
Openess unless it is slander, is the proper way to be in society. That's what's refreshing about Fran. His has real principles and lives by them.
SU has a lot of times in the past shown complete disrespect for the fans of Syracuse Sports, but the fans remained faithful.
There may come a time when that no longer happens.

I didn't say he was the donor not playing nice. If anything, he's been trying to play extra nice to get his foot back in the door...

I do think the Weitsman topic is a legit topic, however.

Too much smoke and mirrors and boardroom intrigue at this point for there not to be a story there (and as you have also alluded to.)

Yes but I don't know the story. I only know how I was treated when I tried to mediate this thing.

When one side of the story is not being told I always assume Hookers or Drugs. It's like going to Vegas and something doesn't add up when someone is telling the story about what they got up to out there.

Yea it's Hookers and Drugs. That's my best guess as someone who knows nothing about anything with this.

Assuming it's the P-S. Carlson does a nice job digging deep and investigating gray areas like this. I look forward to reading it. Really anything investigative by the staff is usually pretty interesting and illuminating.
