Maybe UNC will spiral into a Matt Doherty-eque year. One could hope. While it's great to see them being down this year, I just can't get behind the ribbing in this thread (that is until we beat them), as we don't want to deal with Karma.

Roy was always a coach that coasted on elite talent, so whining is all he can do when he doesn't have a combo of McD's or really good guys that would have bolted from SU that he somehow gets to play 4 years.

True, when he has the horses, it can be just an overpowering mismatch for their opponents. Like those Hansborough, Ray Felton teams that ran a track meet with easy basket after easy basket all the way to 30 wins each year, no thanks to Roy. Talk about rolling the ball out there each week. But he hasn't shown an ability to dig deep, make adjustments and coach up a mediocre team like he has this year, like JB has time and again.

Cole Anthony is coming back. I don’t like this thread. They aren’t going to make the tournament but he would make them dangerous.

Roy said he hasn’t even returned to practice yet. If true I would imagine he’d need a few weeks of practice to even get back into shape. Also wonder what allowances the NCAA would make for UNC comparing records with him on the court vs off it if they did make a run.

They had an academic scandal. We had our own scandal. Glass houses and all that.

Didn't "Rutgirls" crack the top 25? Seton Hall's been there for two years(?)... We make fun of UConn and Georgetown here, still, and they go on and beat us...

who cares what UNC is doing? or hell even Georgetown. I wouldnt care if Gtown went 33-2 as long as we were there giving them a loss in their last game of the season.

I'm not talking about the stuff that led to our probation or sanctions or whatever.
Definitely right, that we received disproportionate penalties, but our other situation was quite serious.

The same way people complain about the recruiting here can be applied to UNC. They've trended this way for years but it finally caught up to them. Outside of Cole Anthony, that's a team filled with guys that would have never sniffed a UNC offer when the Tar Heels were the Tar Heels. Coach K usurped his lane and Roy hasn't gotten it back since.

It's fine to tout your class rank, but the talent doesn't match it and that's where the services get it wrong. This is undoubtedly Roy's worst coaching job. He's not getting anything out of this team and they weren't good with Cole Anthony.

They have 3 5 Star recruits in that class.
They have a very talented class for next year.
Sharpe is going to be a big time stud.
Love and Kessler will like be McDonald’s AAs as well.
UNC is paying the piper this year.

How many times have we said such and such is going to be a stud and they flop? I remember Seventh Woods was supposed to be that guy. The kids aren't good and Roy isn't helping.

Yes. They still have more top 100 guys than us and their bigs are good. It's ok to admit Roy can only win with the best of the best.

It’s just obvious to see. He never calls timeouts when his teams needs them. It’s almost like he thinks calming down momentum doesn’t work.

The guy’s system relies on having fast PGs to push the ball in transition and stable of bigs to rotate in and out.

Those bigs that come in next year might not play much. Brooks and Bacot are already really good. It's the perimeter players that are terrible.

Before Coach D'oh-erty, UNC used to brag that they never finished worse than 4th in the Old ACC. After him they bragged that they were the only Old ACC team never to have finished last. It would be really special if that streak is in jeopardy this year. I'd just like to have them sweating it out; actually finishing last would be icing on the cake.

not sure I agree - they are struggling this year but I would swap their previous few years for ours in a second.
