I, like so many other 'Cuse fans, am very excited about the future of SU football and believe we have the right coach in place to get back to a winning tradition. With that said, I am a bit concerned that some fans may be allowing their excitement to blind the reality of what will most likely happen. What will most likely happen is what occurs with the majority of programs that are in a rebuilding stage and that is, still a lot of losses to come before things begin to click. I really hope that people are ready for what will probably be a bumpy ride but one that I believe will yield positive results as long as we can exercise patience and understand that this is a process that will take time.

I think 5-7 wins is realistic in 2016. 6-8 in 2017 and then hopefully the year three new coach magic kicks in and we're praying Dino doesn't leave us in 2018 after a 10 win season with a top 20 ranking.

I don't really see this as being a true rebuilding, rather a re-setting. We have talented athletes on this team already, many of whom I think will be able to get up to speed fairly quickly. How the OL and defense will respond are big question marks. But again, I think we have some really good, young talent on D that took their lumps this season, but will be better for it next year with continued coaching.

2017 could be a very rough year. @fsu,Miami,lsu. Ville and Clemson home. I don't see that big of a turn around by then but who knows

In some ways, this will be a dramatic change. For instance Dino's conditioning methods will probably flush out a few players were are not up for the type of conditioning that will be required. That will cause a delay in the results we all want.

I believe if people see progress over the short term, they will remain patient. That is something I was frustrated with SS that it kills me to say, he just didn't seem to learn from his experiences and the team didn't appear to make progress when we all felt they should. The potential was there, no doubt.

After this team goes through the spring & summer training, I think most fans will have a realistic set of expectations. This week has been an upswing after a rather dark 2+ months. All this excitement is due to the newness of HCDB.

I expect at worst a bowl game every year. So 6-6 is my expectation in year 1 for this staff.

Right there with you. There was enough talent on this team this year to get to 6-6 so there's no reason why that shouldn't be the DB year 1 expectation.

The thing I'll be furious about is the friggin CNY bandwagoners...will give up on the team in year 1 by October if we aren't sitting at 5-1 or 6-0.

It is going to take some time...but by year 3, I think you'll see a very competitive team

year 3. Keep your eyes fixed on year 3 and look for flashes of what is to come. But year 3 is the year to be excited. Seeing the team grow and morph as the system sets in and they work to get there will be fun, but expectations-wise, look out for year 3.

i agree if you are looking for a 8-10 win season year 1 you will be let down. But I don't think 6-6 and a bowl game is too much. Those are the down years I expect from this program. Every year we should be in a bowl game.

I'm excited because it's the unknown with a proven HC and proven system. It will be fun to watch.

Expectations? I try not to have any. Especially this year.

Recruiting wise I'm happy because the recruits know that Barbers will be at SU for at least 3 years so that is a good start. I just want to see good execution of the game plan and fundamentals.

BTW can I say how much I hate that we have to play ND in NYC and they get us back at their place the following year. They should have to come to the dome. UGH!!!

seven wins next year plus whatever happens in the bowl game nine 2017

It's so weird to see you predicting that many wins.

Truly a new era.

Indeed - because if we didn't have Barbers at SU, then everybody would have really huge 'Fro's and mulletts and 80's hair-metal do's.

it's weird to not do everything the hard way.

they'll be better and they should've won more than 4 anyway.

uva usf were goofy, add one of those
they're going to be older, add one from there
their offense will be be better, add one from there

Not many...so you are saying we had lots of folks from WNY/ENY and downstate?

Yes. Some of the lots used to be filled with motor homes and the like. It's not just CNYers who left the program. In fact CNYers are the ones that have kept it alive for the most part.
