Expectations in Year 1

There are a few things a lot more likely to me than DJ Wagner speculation.

1a- Formal announcements around Brunt, Blackwell and any others on staff.

1b -News on actual PG targets which could be Wilkinson ( per On3 and MCW is his agent), Blyden ( fits that same profile plus kid came from Toledo and Rob Murphy is one of his reps), Alex Wilkens( prior relationship from being recruited by Siena), Derek Dixon( previously we recruited), either of the Mingos( Brunt has connection as does Kiyan), unknown Euro( given M3 signing)

2 - News on big man targets- Estrella (obvious reasons), Euro( speculation like above), names tbd without connection, backup depth via Gilhool( given prior relationship)

3- Sadiq/Donnie formal news as well as Akir ( figure that is a given)

4- formal annoucements on the Siena kids.

5- Additional out of nowhere updates or commits.
Number 5 has potential. I liked yesterday’s Euro news.

I view this stuff very differently now. Been way too humbled as a Syracuse fan over the last several years. I expect competent basketball and hopefully that translates to a lot more wins than losses.
I’ll add that selfishness is at play for me. I’ve spent a lot of money and time traveling to games. And I watch every game from beginning to end. It’s been rough.

You are a trooper. I can't remember the last game I could stomach finishing.

1. Hire Gerry to raise massive NIL
2. Use NIL to build tournament roster
3. Gerry's "coaching acumen" should be able to get said roster to the tournament

If Gerry cannot build a tournament roster with the NIL money his hiring brought about, then he was not the right hire.

I didn't think I had to spell it out but here we are.
Got it!

So, what will be our record next year?

1(a) - hamstring NIL efforts by not having place to donate.

SU can't get out of its own way. And it might have been on purpose so the whales cover 12m in NIL and grassroots stuff goes to the AD, which is not the right move and not what most regular fans want with their money. Prices went up - I hope SU is not about to learn yet another hard lesson.

**Nothing here is an excuse for year 1 results --- tournament or bust.

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.

And the people rose up to play and did eat and drink. They were as the children of fools and cast off their clothes. The wicked were like a troubled sea whose waters cast up mire and dirt. They sank from evil to evil and were viler than the earth.

And there was rioting and drunkenness, for they had become servants of sin. There was manifest all manner of ungodliness and works of the flesh, even adultery and lasciviousness, uncleanness, idolatry and rioting, vanity and wrath.

Shoot, that's a typical weekend in Vegas.

Clarified it for you

Got it!

So, what will be our record next year?

Miami was 25-8 and a #7 seed this year. Clemson was 24-10 and a #8 seed. So realistically - in order to be a tournament team that isn’t sweating it out on selection day, Syracuse needs about 24 or 25 wins.

There’s a chance that just getting into the NCAAs will be adequate to keep attention (and more importantly NIL money) up, so being a first four isn’t great but isn’t the end of the world. If Syracuse doesn’t make the NCAA tournament, I think getting things back on track ever is unlikely and we’re on the road to being another DePaul. But I think a decent percentage of the pro-GMac hiring crowd would be OK with that - they’d rather lose with GMac than win with an outside hire. Our parochial nature has been and will remain a major problem for the school and program.

Yeah because every schedule is built the same. Those two were seeded lower because they beat no one in charmin soft OOC schedules.
