Fairly Optimistic Prediction for ACC Network...

The ACC announced it reached agreement for distribution with streaming services partners a while ago, but not which specific ones.

I would be really surprised if the ACC Network is not available on any major streaming service come August. If these streaming services want ESPN or ABC/Disney, they are going to have to add the ACC Network as well.

This is one of the many reasons why it was wise for the ACC to partner with ESPN. Unlike say the Pac 12...
The Pac is playing a different game. They’ve historically not been on equal footing w/ the other major conferences, so they have to swing for fences to try to upset the historic status quo.

Their saving grace has always been having a monopoly in their little seaside kingdom.

Even if carriers don’t pick it up it will be on WatchESPN right?
My fear, is No. Games with Raycom rights were not on the old accn, last year. Same with ABC/CBS etc...

My hope is that the ACCN buys the rights to those games, where the local networks are not showing them.

Raycom is going away.

And since ESPN already pays the ACC a gazillion dollars for broadcast rights, the ACCN already has the rights to the games that ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU and the RSN's don't want.

Woot!

My understanding is that both Raycom and the RSNs are now out of the picture completely and all the games that were on those media will now be in the mix for the ACCN. The Ga Tech board has been discussing this for several years now. It is strongly believed that the ACCN will have 3 slots on Saturdays for football, noon-ish, 3:30-ish, and a night game, like the SECN does now.

Yes, I agree with this. All that inventory that was sold to Raycom and the RSNs was bought up to be shown on the ACCN. It should drive a more smoothly distributed set of start times for football, and less noon starts, especially for the bad teams. I think it will be great for football fans who attend games and hate nooners.

This was a brutal year for Syracuse for late start basketball games. Lots of 8 and 9 pm games. I think we might see even more of these in the future for the same reason (ESPN will want to do double headers on weekday nights for the ACCN). Hopefully UL and ND will host a ton of the late start games.

It isn't fun to get home close to midnight on a weekday and have to go to work the next day.

Even better.

Shifting gears a bit, this network certainly is really good news for the smaller private schools in our conference. I think we should also be rooting for the PAC 12 to continue to shoot itself in the foot...and almost force itself into a scheduling alliance with the big 12.

Any semblance of a quasi “merger” between those two strengthens the ACC’s position should another realignment shake up occur- which is not out of the question.

In the back of my mind is a break between the larger state schools and the smaller private schools that haven’t been big $ generators in football.

Further shrinking the number of “power” schools and conferences.

I have another bone to pick with the ACC Sirius XM radio channel. They have been on the air for almost a year and I have never heard the little promo sound bit for SU. Not once
