Hey gang...

After a looooong day headed to Yankee stadium and back to see a 3-0 Indians shut out I was exhausted. Seeing Jeter pass a guy I used to be a nerd about and look up his stats all the time in Honus Wagner that was very cool. Got to see my uncle (SUFanInNJ) and his wife and 2/3 boys which was also a treat. However I knew i was missing something going on in my neck of the woods...

How was Fan Fest? For those of you who attended I'd love to hear the feedback. What went well, what didn't, who looked the best during practice, how many championships will this team produce... you know, the usual.

How was it at the SU Soccer Stadium? Friday or Saturday? Just love hearing from you guys so we can better cater to all of you!

Hope everyone who went enjoyed it. I know it was a beautiful day out so that's always a bonus.

19 DAYS AWAY!!!!

I didn't attend but based on the crowd, I think moving to Saturday was a fantastic idea. I can remember some posters frustration in past years about not being able to get off work early when it started at 3:30 on a Friday.

Dan--the soccer stadium was great! Much closer to to the action and what a relief not to be an ape-hanger trying to watch the action through a chain link fence! If the Fest returns to asphalt like it has been the past several years, I would consider it a definite downgrade to what was presented yesterday. (As an aside, I said to my wife "Nice that the soccer team let the FB use their stadium." She responded: "But didn't FB pay for their stadium?" ).

Great vibe there yesterday, Dan, sorry you couldn't be there. My impression from yesterday was the marketing staff is starting to get it--hope it continues.

PS: still hoping your plan A comes to fruition. Doing so would show how the higher ups are making an effort to "cater" to us.

I'll toast to doing it under the lights next year. That would be cool.

Not a bad idea. But I wouldn't want it to be too late so not as many kids could come.
nice 7pm start would be pretty sweet and something different

Loved it, family had a blast and I got my football fix for the day. I can't tell you how much myself and my family love and appreciate Scott Shafer being our head coach and ambassador for this program. His family as well.

Hoping he will be here for years to come.

Just a quick story...

As my wife, 3 year old daughter and I come up to the table to get Coach Shafer's autograph. An older lady (had to be late 70's) was standing at the head of the table. She walks to Shafer and he acknowledges her and starts some banter and I heard a loud "God Love ya" from him.

Decked out in SU gear, She politely says to him that she had been through a lot of coaches at SU and started naming them. I heard Coach Mac, Coach P, He who shall not be named and coach Marrone. She says to him, "...I can't go through you, so WIN!!" and she came up and gave coach a big hug.

Was a great moment.

Dan- I attended with my soon to be 2 year old son. I have been in the past and I agree that Saturday seems to make the most sense. Great weather and turnout. There were a lot of young families there and I feel that we need to capitalize on this as the fan base grows. Loved the Soccer Stadium as a venue and it was great to have the Kid's Zone right behind the field. I have attended many Fanfests in the past, but I guess as a father of a 2 year old and a 3 month old I would vote for a Saturday afternoon. Also, it would be great to have more food options in general. My wife asked me if our son would be having dinner there, which I assumed we could do, but Popcorn and Cotton Candy were not the best options. Again, this is just my situation, but there were a lot of younger kids there. The other thing would be more bounce houses...or "jumpy houses", as HCSS pointed out for the younger kids. I didn't feel comfortable sending my little guy into a bounce house with a bunch of bigger kids..maybe one designated for little kids. I was with a few other dads with kids of the same age and we just ended up sitting on the field and hoping that they didn't run away. Overall, awesome and it was a great setup and turnout! I am amped for another season. This will mark our 34th season in the same seats as season ticket holders. Thanks for being a part of the board and for reaching out for input from some of the serious fans. Glad to hear that the ticket sales are up and I am excited to get back to more full houses in the future.

Don't forget shafer also told her that he liked her shoes as well. It certainly made me look at them. Some sort of orange and blue penny loafers.

Dan - I thought everything was perfect. Much better having it on a Saturday afternoon, and over at the soccer fields. Really hope that will be done in future as well. Thought everything about it was great. Might suggest a small food vendor for burgers/dogs, but that's only thing that I thought needed added. It was wonderfully put together, and a fun event.

I didn't stick around after, but from the sounds of it Coach Shafer really capped off a fun day by making sure everyone's autograph requests were taken care of. What an easy guy to root for, I am sure once we start piling up the wins his popularity will sky rocket even further among the casual fan.

Thanks Rock, I knew I was miss a bit of the conversation and some of her attire. I think she had on orange and blue sunglasses as well.
