Underrated play...Coach P showed some stones...
SU beats Texas, 31-21, at the Carrier Dome in Sept. 1992.
From NY Times
The Longhorns (0-2) had one final chance to tie. But on third and 12 at their 47, Bob Grosvenor intercepted Gardere, giving Syracuse possession with 2:02 left. Ismail Seals the Victory
There was still one final drama to play out.
The Longhorns called timeout after each of Syracuse's running plays and with 1:36 left, the Orange found themselves facing a third and 6 at their 41.
Instead of going for a short possession pass, which the Texas secondary was expecting, Pasqualoni and his staff decided to call on their receiving ace, Qadry Ismail. Ismail exploded past Joey Ellis, the Texas cornerback, and ran under a perfectly thrown Graves pass. The 58-yard pass play gave Syracuse a first and goal at the Texas 1. Two plays later Al Wooten scored the back-breaker for Syracuse.
"This was a team effort," Graves said. "One person can't do it alone, and we have a lot of people who can help carry the load. All I wanted to do was keep us focused."
