Favorite single play ever

Diamond Ferri's interception return for a TD against BC in 2004.

It wasn't as meaningful as most of the scores mentioned so far, but since he had already scored 2 rushing TDs that pick-6 was the ultimate kick in the groin to those sombrero-wearing Super Fan dopes.

That's the first one that leapt to mind.

The McNabb-to-Brominski throwback TD vs VaTech in '98 was fairly amazing.

I'll probably think of a dozen more.

Scooch--re-reading through this thread, we listed a lot of the same memorable plays.

Great minds.

:)

Donnie Mac to Rob Moore. For me there's not a close second. That one play was sooooo significant in the programs history. It was the spark that lit a flame that burned for years...

What a great ing play call too. It was coach Mac flipping Joepa the bird.

funny I just ran into Donnie Mac on Ferry from Ocean Beach Fire island back to Bayshore an hour ago -- nice guy --

Admittedly I didn't appreciate the 90s as much as I should have as a young chap because I was naive and thought we'd always be a top 25 team. No one play in particular but I remember Darius knocking the snot out of players on repeated occasion s and teams no longer trying his side of the field.

Aside from that some more recent goodies:

Shamarko game ending sack on Geno @ wfvu

The group meeting at Geno Smith in his his own end zone in the pinstripe

Nassib flea flicker to Sales

Lemon game winner Mizzou

Dorian Graham kick return td vs wfvu

Bailey turning the corner and out running wake forest in an epic comeback

Hunt game winning pass vs bc

Hunt game winning run vs Mini soda

DC3 beast mode run vs Colgate

Drew Allen benching vs Wagner

Daryl Johnston up the middle on first down. Six yards and a cloud of dust. Hard-nosed (and semi-old school).

Everything we've done against WVU the last 3 times we played them.
- Geno Smith getting drilled by Shamarko to seal the first win in Morgantown
- Dorian Graham's KO return TD in the Dome
- PTG's long TD run in the Pinstripe Bowl

So happy I was in the stadiums for all three of those games. I loved beating WVU.

I'm gonna be generic. Anytime Joe Morris touched the football. Ya never knew if he was gonna go the distance. ;)

I have to say I was at that pinstripe bowl and the STONES to make that play call early in the game and set the tone I was absolutely Screaming when he scored that flea flicker TD. Not sure it stands up in siginifcance to some of the others but I think it was the signal that this program was Back and we weren't shrinking against a challenge.

1. Brominski Catch vs. Va Tech
2. Kirby Dar Dar Opening Return vs. Florida (First Cuse Football Game)
3. Diamond Ferri interception for a TD against BC to seal the victory.
4. KJ Johnson Opening Return vs. Wisconsin in the Meadowlands

I'll start with a darkhorse - Down 24-0 to Oklahoma Bryce Bevill covers half the field to track a guy down at the goal line and punch the ball out. Best no quit effort I've ever seen.

Great thread! That was before my time but the best no-quit effort I ever witnessed was vs VT in '98. Late in the game, we score to go up 22-21 & elect to go for 2. McNabb throws a terrible INT directly to a Hokie DB in the flat who catches it in stride & now has clear-path sprint to the end zone & the lead. Instead of hanging his head, McNabb sprints the length of the field to catch him at the 8 yd line. It was a surreal moment in the Dome watching this foot race, seemingly in slow-motion, between 2 men with the game on the line...one striving for glory and the other determined to redeem himself. I'll never forget the "ebb & flow" of the crowd noise, from elation/excitement following the TD & going for 2, to the devastated groan after the interception, to the gradually-building roar as we watched the pure athleticism & determination of McNabb's all-out 85 yard come-from-behind sprint. Yes, the VT DB fumbled the ball (clearly intentionally) forward into the endzone where a teammate recovered to take the 23-22 lead, but I'll never forget that scene and it's indelible message of accountability & correcting your mistakes.

It was actually "The Riddler" Jamel Riddle who took that punt back in the infamous "Lollipop" game.

I was in the Dome for Rob Moore, Michael Owens & Kirby Dar Dar but that punt return by Riddle really stands out to me even though I was watching it on TV. I hated VT so much, and the sting of the 62-0 humiliation the last time we had been to Blacksburg had me so fired up. I remember reading their board for days after that game, and their tears were delicious.

Great moment, and a great play. D used that so many times. I have a feeling we will be seeing something similar in the book this year.
