It's exciting to see the vast majority of this board at near fever pitch. Too sparse are big games in which we've had the opportunity to be excited about as of late.

These were the types of games that hooked me when I was first falling in love with Syracuse Football. And, seeing everyone's confidence in our team only validates what I think has been happening over the HCDB era.

Enjoy every moment of this weekend. One of the great things about football is the week long buildup, that energy is great and translates over to our everyday lives in most instances. It's just plain fun.

I believe we'll move the ball and score. I think 35-40 is a very strong number for us this weekend. If we get there, we should be in good shape. It's time for some of our youngin's to grow up on a national stage Saturday. And, it's time for our upperclassmen to open the door when opportunity knocks.

I think our front 6/7 is the key to the game on D. If we can create some pressure against FSU's inconsistent OL and contain the run, we'll put ourselves in good scoring positions.

I could write for days, but, would rather leave this one simple...

SEIZE THE DAY!

I'm optimistic but I thought it should be noted that Western Michigan scored 42 on us, 35 in a half. I hope 35-40 will be enough.

While there is certainly merit in extrapolating common opponents or prior games, to current games, it also can have no correlation at all.
These games sometimes take on a life of their own and that's one of the reasons it's so unpredictable and fun to watch.
For example in 1984 we were thrashed by an ordinary Rutgers squad 19-0 and the next week we beat #1 Nebraska 17-9. And the Clemson game - where did that come from. Of course this can work the other way too.
Bottom line is that there's something indefinable in the air this week. A great opportunity for the program, and my Orange heart is beating strongly in the hope that a beating is in the cards for FSU.

Yep, that's my concern as well. Also, I doubt FSU will be taking us lightly. They know very well that we're coming for them. I still like our chances though.

They also know that if they lose to us that their season could slip away very quickly.

I love our chances in a close game. The Dome will be loud as hell and a detriment to FSU's O. We've just got to get our points early to keep the fans fully engaged and believing. They ought to have dollar beer specials; that would help.

Wether it is football or basketball there is nothing like this town leading up to a big game. So much energy and excitment in the air. I just wish the causal fans would come support the football program. Those of us diehards know that things feel different under Dino than it has the past 17 years.

If a safety ever gets beat over the top again this season he should find a seat on the bench. It was a lesson learned and a teaching moment but I'm sure the message was - don't get beat over the top again.

I think he meant fans in the seats.

"I believe we'll move the ball and score. I think 35-40 is a very strong number for us this weekend. If we get there, we should be in good shape. "

I took it as a reference to scoring.

For some reason I'm seeing this as a blowout either for us or for them not too sure

I'm leaning in our favor 45-20

I was definitely trying to say we need to score 35-40, not referencing attendance. Should've been clearer.

My belief in transitive properties is non-existent. My signature is what I feel about football. I watched the WMU game, and I don't care about the WMU results, it has nothing to do with Saturday. If we're not confident in holding FSU beneath that number, then quite honestly, your expectations shouldn't be very strong for this team.

This thread was simply to discuss the excitement surrounding the game and what it means for the fans and program. I do feel strongly about our scoring number still, if we're in that range, IMO, we'll be in a good place.

PS - I will absolutely eat my crow no questions asked if this is a 50's-60's shootout. And wholeheartedly acknowledge it is a possibility, just not one I think will come to fruition.

I think we finally see Dungey roll out like it's a run and step back to throw. They'll be focusing on him so much, he'll have the defense in the palm of his hand if we can get him some misdirection and stretch the field. Think Donny Mac 1987 vs. PSU.

SQUEEZE THE DAY!
