Final CFP Rankings for Dec 8

I offer the same solution as I did in the basketball discussions on OOC play.
It would be so much better for the viewer too and the games would have more buzz. Would love to watch some intra-conference battles in early November.

Imagine something like this for football
- 8 conference games
- 2 games to do whatever the heck you want to do.
- 2 games against P4 (one home/one road) randomly selected in advance each year, where every team plays somebody from other conference, called something like the "Championship Series Games". It will allow people to actually see what conference is the best and should get most respect in the playoff seedings.

I understand in the past teams were opposed to this when only 2 or 4 teams got a chance to play for the championship. Now its 12 -- a lot more chances to make up for any warts.

Time to expand the field again!

Actually I find 12 is quite good. Yes we will argue teams like Indy, SMU, Alabama, but they all had warts, so if they got left out so be it.

What was Herbie talking about re: OSU being better off playing a road game due to their fans being angry at Ryan Day. Would you seriously rather have to win at Tennessee? That’s insane.

I think 12 is the absolute perfect sweet spot. Any more than that would ruin the magic of the college football regular season. We don’t need 8-4 teams in the playoff.

12 rewards the top teams if they do away with top 4 conf byes.

Fix that and its all fine.

10 wins isnt automatic but it gets you in the discussion if you schedule well
All said and done.
Handle the Stanford game better
And don't let mistakes give away BC game

Not sure the B1G/SEC want that as the aura can be exposed.

the thing is, theres a lot more parity now with the portal and a number of teams 13-24 can beat teams 1-12. Do we need them, no, but it would be a lot of fun. I’d love to see Miami, Bama, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Illinois, LVille, Iowa State, UNLV, Duke, Ohio and Army in the field.

I also would love to see those teams in the field... if they're in the Top 12. Otherwise I'm good.

but your opponent has to AGREE to the game. And what is the SEC/BIG10 incentive to play these OOC games when the narrative is working in their favor right now?

That is the key to all of this. And with ESPN and CBS being conflicted with legit confilicts of interest. I mean they are doing it right now...Oh Oregon has a tough draw! says who? Of the BS narrative again.

Lets play the playoff. I actually hope SMU wins the whole thing to show these clowns that much like Joe Shaein in NY, you (pundits/comittee members etc) don't really know .
Exactly. They own the narrative. Florida went years without playing a top northern team once we spanked them 30 years ago. Alabama has no desire to play us. Not that they wouldn't beat us or anyone else but there is nothing in it for them.

First rd matchups are all really intriguing
They really are. After we get done arguing about all of this there is some amazing football coming up over the next few weeks.

Finebaum was complaining about Warde “going off the reservation” this morning and it will probably mean Alabama is out.
I am not surprised he is still using that expression.
