Final List of Bowl Ratings

wow...Rutgers made it on 6 different weeks and 4 of those games had a 0.1 rating and it might even be tough for them if you add up all 6 games it just might pass one game of ours. One of there games had 92,000 watching which means a lot of people were not home when the T.V'S WERE ON.

We made it 3 times and had decent ratings of 2.4 and better.

Scroll all the way down. Texas Bowl was the highest rated bowlup to that point. It actually outdrew a few more prestigious Bowls
(Holiday, Music City, and Liberty)

Note that Rutgers really dragged down the Pinstripe Bowl.
I don't know, Mark, Rutgers was playing a small private school from Indiana. Obviously that little private school has no fan base, that must be what dragged Rutger's ratings down. (I can't keep a straight face while typing it)

It's kind of surprising to see the ratings so low for most of the games on December 30th and December 31st.
These are teams with strong fanbases and higher rankings (most of the teams, at least).
You'd think that people would be on vacation and watching the games but I guess the time of the day makes a huge difference.

Anyone know what the rating of the SU-Nova bball game? That was up against the pinstripe bowl. I'd be interested to see how a high profile reg season bball game rates against a meaningless post season fball game.

I'm guessing the fball game outdrew the bball game, I just wonder how badly.

those ratings are a crock- no way rutgers didnt out draw us no way - they have so much more history than us and have a whole state supporting them -

i bet a su grad fiddled with the numbers - rutgers is big time football:bat:

Nova game was a 1.1

This article talks about the schools with the highest average TV ratings for the 2013 season. Syracuse should have been ranked seventh, it met the criteria for inclusion (at least 3 national broadcasts). They just missed us.

No question the Syracuse brand is strong and it is reflected in the TV ratings for football and basketball. As as aside, fans of the ACK should note the astonishingly low ratings for that conference. No one thought it would do well except UConn fans but wow, those ratings are stunning. There were almost more people in their half empty stadiums than people at home watching on TV.

Syracuse TV Ratings 2013

Syracuse-Penn State 2.4
Syracuse-Clemson 2.9
Syracuse-Florida State 2.8
Syracuse-Minnesota (Texas Bowl) 2.5

Average 2.65

Selective reporting? It seems whoever put the list together changed their own rules and felt a 4-game SU didn't belong with the 8, 9, and 10 game teams. Or we're embarrassed that we drew right along with the big boys with less opportunities.

Shoddy journalism. We would have looked good in that list.

Also, our game in 2010 was a hideous date compared to Rutgers. We had a midweek game at 3:30pm

And the area was dealing with a crazy amount of snow

That is amazing. Since each rating is higher than our respective opponent's average rating, this is solid verification that the Syracuse name adds value and TV fans. We have the highest rating in the ACC. I know that the 9-10 national game teams average in some lesser teams, but ths should catch the eyes of TV execs and spur them to demand less body bag games.

The shocker is MN. Of the other 3 teams they have huge followings and playing against us was at the very least, an interesting matchup. But the numbers on the Texas bowl to me are impressive.

outside of the nc i think our game was the best to watch -

I'd say Duke/TAMU was better. The Cuse/MN game didn't have the offensive fireworks many other games had but I think it was in the Top 5-6 bowl games.

i like some defense sprinkled in to make a good game -shootouts happen way to much nowadays imho

the alumni always deliver the TV ratings.

You realize in the South, Midwest and even Pennsylvania...alumni regularly drive back from games from locations 1-5 hrs away?

Clemson, SC a town about the size of Cortland gets 80,000+ to their games.
