Jimmy Dykes was just so unbearable from start to finish. How many times do we have to hear how Ennis is going to have a hard time with the Gophers press. Hell, he mentioned it with like 4 minutes left in the game. Hey Jimmy, guess how many times Ennis turned the ball over when pressed? That's right, a big fat ZERO!

Am I overreacting or was he all over Minnesota tonight?

In his defense he said about 5 times how ennis had no turnovers and that was amazing seeing the pressure he was under.

You are not over reacting. I would not be surprised to hear he is in the Minn locker room giving his condolences.

He was too busy sh***** bricks over the Kentucky first half to think of any new talking points.

I almost started taking a drink after every time the announcers said "Richard Pitino" and 2 drinks for every time they cut to him at the bench.

3 drinks for every time they mentioned how amazing Eliason is

It was odd when with about 3 min left and SU up 6 he said something like "Minnesota is looking to upset a top ten team!" You say that before the game or if Minn is slightly ahead late.

Good news is this is the first time in a few years that SU has won while I was in Syracuse (i.e. the dome) or its 'burbs. I had become scared of visiting my parents in the month of March...

He's horrendous when watching any game, but having him do one of our games really brought it home just how bad he is.

I swear to god, Eliason had an okay game, but he made it sound like the guy was the second coming of Kevin Durant. Great, Jimmy, you memorized a kid's name (and the coach's), it doesn't mean you have to say it every 10 seconds for an entire broadcast.

You think a friend dared him to see how many times he could say Eliason and Richard Pitino in one game??? That's my only possible explanation.

Wasnt there a thread about this guy on here last night, even if they typoed his name?

As bad as Dykes is, my muting is reserved for Dick Vitale .. its just too unbearable.

I am honestly sick of the Jimmy Dykes threads, seriously. No matter what the dude says, all the Syracuse fan/Dykes haters react like he's worst the announcer of all time... he simply isn't. Before the game it was claimed by multiple posters on this board that all he would do was talk about Kentucky, I do not think he mentioned Kentucky a single time during the game. Where are those posters admitting they were wrong? It's literally ridiculous on SU fans part. I guess haters gonna hate.

How many times did I have to hear about the Minn. player's jaw and how he had jaw surgery and how tough he was every time he fell down. One time they were having that conversation late in the game while they cut to a shot of CJ with the blood pouring down his face again from the cut reopening. Seriously? Who is the tough one here. I think the one with the blood pouring down the face.

Now that you mentioned it, that was particularly interesting. I don't remember them cutting to Boeheim more than once or twice. I may need to watch it again just to count. lol

Hey, I normally don't have any problem with Dykes, but this game was particularly lopsided in his homerism.

In Fairness he made CJ out to be the second coming of Bernard King.....the kid is "automatic from the elbow and the baseline". He said different versions of that at least three times. CJ is really good, but has never been close to automatic.

The announcers were definitely playing the Orange can't handle the press card all night. Dykes was freaking awful. Halfway through the first half my wife asked if they were MN announcers...unreal...I suspect the entire tournament will be this way, looking for an Orange loss. 'em!

Well, I was one of the Dykes downers. He seems to have figured out he has a problem boosting Kentucky too much. The only time I remember any mention was one of Randle as a prominent freshman, which he certainly is.
I still don't like his style of announcing, trying to be a coach who knows what/why is happening and is going to happen.

I didn't think the homerism was as bad as usual, but the repetition of the same dumb points and incorrect speculation about what's going to happen is really tiresome. One of my favorites was how he was obsessed with when "Richard Pitino" would bring Eliason back with four fouls. With about 8 minutes left he starts rambling about how Minnesota just has to get through the next two minutes and then they bring back Eliason. With 5:30 left he states - as fact - that Eliason comes back at the under four minute time out. Ten seconds later - cut to Eliason coming back with 5:08 left.

And by the way, why is Eliason coming back the most important event of the game?

Yup. He also said CJ may the best shooter in the country from 15 feet. Really Jim?

It's about FOCUS folks. Admittedly I fell asleep numerous times because of some medication i took, so I may have missed some things, but Ive watched many games on many networks where a key player in the game goes to the bench and the announcers focus on how long he is going to be out and will even start spitting out the point differentials between the current moment and when he went out. I'm not claiming the guy is a great or even good announcer, but he isn't the antichrist(or even anticuse) that some make him out to be. What you focus on and want to see you will see. Try to enjoy the games my friends. Life's too short to be bitter about some announcer's style when it's not even warranted. Redirect that angst toward some of the other hacks employed by ESPN. He apparently was unfamiliar with the teams and possibly went to the well too often with what he thought was interesting, and reached a few times with things like the statements made about CJ's shooting, etc, that some have mentioned.

As for camera shots of JB vs Richard, one is a novelty and one is very, very familiar. Which do you think might get more camera time and offer something new to talk about??? If we want to crucify someone because he isnt objective in our opinion, we would do well to avoid throwing our own ability to be objective out the window.

Dykes read that thread is all, else he would have. Dykes is one of the worst, if you don't want to read about us birching about it you have the god given right not to read it. 'Murica.

The thing that gets me is that the announcers were talking up Minnesota's defense as though the Cuse was going to have trouble with it...that it would be difficult to prepare for in a short amount of time. They seemed to forget that JB has coached against the original incarnation of the defense from Louisville.
