Florida coach Todd Golden accused of sexual harassment

Yeah...the allegations are way too specific to be made up. Dudes are creeps and the chances this is true are likely higher than the chances this is all made up. I'm sure the facts will show the truth. I have 2 daughters and story's like this piss me off. This guy is cooked. POS.

In typical Florida fashion he'll be coaching tonight -
Forgot to add the "Florida factor"...

I am kind of on the fence about this.

These allegations, IF TRUE, are very serious and swift actions need to be taken.

However, since there is accusations of messages, images being sent over the phone, there is digital footprints and should be a slam dunk to those investigating, right. Yet this is a month long drawn out active investigation that is still ongoing, suggests there is something more going on besides what's alleged. It doesn't take a month to look into this, and he is still coaching at this point.

What else could be going on?

May be it's not a case of pure stalking, may be they were having a relationship followed by a breakup from one side and the lines are blurry with lots of half truths.

May be they need access to phone records and it needs to be supeonaed with court order and UF campus authorities have no power to demand records from the accused...but why would't the victim provide the records on her end?

May be they couldn't prove anything at all but once leaked the negative press and what follows is impossible to navigate so they have been secretly negotiating a buyout or a voluntary resignation package that's taking time.

May be either the accused or the victim has mental health issues and the school is trying to figure out how to avoid having this blow up all over their faces.

Could be a lot of things.

Something so cut and dry as alleged couldn't take more than a month to investigate.

There is a lot of money involved. That alone makes it a time situation. Isn't there more than one woman involved?

If it's a clear cut case of wrong doing, any institution of higher learning would have already terminated his employment, and whatever is stipulated in the contract in the event of an involuntary termination, but all contract would have an exit clause for bad behavior...unless of course they are worried about wrongful termination for some reasons and want to negotiate a resignation and buyout, which only makes sense if they can't prove anything but still want to part ways because his reputation is ruined no matter outcome.

If it's a slam dunk that he did all that alleged I doubt it will take a month to investigate and still "on going".

I don't have any idea of what they know or what they don't know. I do not think they have taken too much time as of now to determine that.

No idea.

He has been accused by an "unknown number of women" of sexual harassment and stalking. I assume this could be 2 or 50.

The university's statement says he is still the coach and nothing has changed.

He said he has been participating and cooperating in this investigation for the past month and is being advised by a lawyer on defamation claims.

Sounds to me it's not a slam dunk case and things may not be what it seems.

Even if they had to match D**Ks it doesn't take a month.

I mean, can they ask for a picture? What would you say if they asked one of you? If it is a lot of woman, that greatly reduces the odds that he is being set up.

Wonder if their willingness to wait for a full investigation has more to do with having formal evidence of breaking his contract’s moral clause so they can avoid any complication in firing him so they can save some big $.

My lord! There are a million reasons why an investigation was not completed within one month (e.g., the coach never filed the mandatory picture of his gator with the AD), the coach’s definition and your definition of cooperation, etc., etc.

I didn’t know that there is a Title IX complaint filed against him. The process for this is lengthy and has victim privacy rules. There may not be a conclusion to that investigation for months, and the university can’t/won’t respond until the Title IX hearing is complete. So with an information vacuum, we may only hear things from the coach’s PR team for a while.

His quotes in the article are kind of weird. I’m surprised he said anything other than a formal response of “I can’t comment on the investigation”. And his previous statement that he’s hired a hot shot lawyer to file defamation charges was either a smoke screen or was a hasty, ill advised response to a career ending accusation.

It wouldn’t surprise me if this drags out past the basketball season.

Good insight. As I remember, you have some history coaching at the college level (hopefully I'm correct about that and also not divulging info you don't want out), so you probably have some knowledge others might not have.

More information will leak out.
He'll either be out around New Year or he'll make it through the season.

As hinted at above, it is possible that he had two-way communications with a couple of women who then realized that he had $$$ and tried to get that from him. If so and he refused then it's possible that that led to the sexual harassment allegations.

UF needs to complete the investigation and likely part ways with him ASAP (New Year?) if the allegations are true or negotiate a separation at the end of the season if he didn't do anything illegal but provides a bad look for him and the school.

No coaching experience, just years of college employment.

If eventually dismissed for cause, would the players or others around the program have any standing to claim some kind of damages for the U sustaining a toxic work environment by keeping this creeper around?

Depends on the dick matching method.
I remember back when they were in this situation with Michael Jackson they had him go through a medical examination. If I remember correctly they didn't have pics but has descriptions from one of the boys.
