I'd like to see Jonny Flynn in San Antonio. Really, he does everything better than Tony Parker and the Spurs would be sooooooo much better with Flynn playing point for 35 minutes and using Parker for a change of pace for 13.
^^^^^^^
Wow! :bat:

Amare is still miles and miles ahead of Donte. Donte is a below average NBA player. Have you watched any NBA these past 4 years? Saying he's not is ridiculous.

I watch tons of NBA games. Donte is on a below average team with tons of chemistry issues who's coach was fire mid-year because Cousins is uncoachable! Donte is only 24 yrs old and has had no major injuries and can have a nice career as a role player. The only thing we know from his days with the Kings is that he is not a go to guy. No one on that team is.

Amare turns 30 in November has ongoing back and knee issues that are never getting better! So thinking about who he was look at who he is today and project that going forward. Any Knicks fan will tell you he has lost his explosiveness, any one who thinks that guy can give you 82 games next year is crazy! Donte is a good cheap option to back-up Amare take mins from him so his body can last through the season in one piece.

In this thread non-NBA fans feign expert on former Syracuse players in the NBA.

you can't compare Donte to Amare. Donte is backup, not a starter. Also, he has proven now that he is not a three point specialist at the NBA range. His propensity for taking threes is the worst part of his game. He's got a future as a 2nd unit forward who can either be a face up 4 or a big 3 (as long as he's not shooting 3s) and defend both forward positions.

there is talk of Flynn to the Lakers, but I would like to see Donte end up there.

Donte's three point shooting has been incredibly disappointing. He had one good year, but has been pretty bad the past two from behind the arc - he has a nice shot, and I always figured that would be what keeps him in the league. Of course I was assuming .375 to .400 would turn into the norm and so far that isn't happening.

The problem with the Kings is the whole team is a bunch of role players who don't compliment each other. There is no one on that team that commands a double team that is night and day from getting open mid-range shots care of Melo. I'm more concerned about Donte's defense and rebounding than his offense.

I could be off, but I thought I read in a few places that Donte's defense was coming along surprisingly well and they were using him a bit as a defense first guy. Did he regress or did I just make that whole thing up?

Donte has a career field goal percentage of 40.6%. His true shooting% is 49.1. That's awful. Amare is ripped for being a bad rebounder (fairly). He is a much better rebounder than Donte.

I know he is an SU guy, and Donte seems like a good kid, but Amare is 100 times better (exaggeration alert!) than Donte, even at his diminished level. The guy has a career 49% true shooting percentage! come on!!!!!

I'm a big fan of Donte but this ^^^^^^

I don't recall hearing that, but the Kings were terrible defensively so using him as a defense first guy and that team isn't saying much. Of course using as a defensive first guy on the knicks isn't saying much either. One thing that hurts him defensively and in rebounding is he has short arms his wingspan is shorter than Kris Jo's despite being a full 2.25" taller than Kris without shoes on.
