Welcome to Administrative Professionals Day!

Administrative Professionals Day®, also known as Secretaries' Day or Admin Day, recognizes the work of secretaries, receptionists, administrative assistants, and other administrative support professionals. Employers and supervisors organize events for these workers on the day, and workers are often given cards, flowers, chocolate, and lunches. In the United States, the day takes place during Administrative Professionals Week, which occurs during the last full week of April. The holiday is celebrated in work environments around the world.

Syracuse, Georgetown To Renew Hoops Rivalry With Home-And-Home (thespun.com; Lyons)

Syracuse and Georgetown was perhaps the defining rivalry of the old Big East. After the break-up of that conference as we knew it, the two teams didn’t play for two seasons, before reviving things in 2015.

The two sides played four games in as many years. Georgetown won the first two games, while Syracuse have taken the last two.

All four games have been close contests, even with Georgetown’s struggles over the last four seasons. The first three were decided by seven points each, while Syracuse won a dramatic one 72-71 at the Carrier Dome this past season.

There have been concerns about the future of the series though, especially with changes in the ACC schedule.

Jim Boeheim Takes Home Visit with 2020 Four-Star Guard – Orange Fizz – Free Syracuse Recruiting News (orangefizz.net; Raucci)

Barring any major surprises, it looks like Jim Boeheim’s 2019 recruiting class is officially filled out after center Jesse Edwards officially signed his NLI on Monday. There’s a lot to look forward to as that class gets set to arrive in Syracuse in just a few months.

With that being said, however, it’s about that time when we turn our attention to the Orange’s 2020 class. Unlike the 2019 class that got a very early commitment from Brycen Goodine in September of 2017, SU has yet to lock up an early-cycle recruit for 2020.

But don’t fret, Fizz Nation, because Boeheim has offers out to a lot of fresh, young talent and he visited one of those guys for an in-home on Tuesday, reportedly making the two-hour trip out to Albany to meet with Albany Academy for Boys shooting guard Andre Jackson.

Turmoil atop the ACC, as crazy April changes league landscape (newsobserver.com; DeCock)

In the space of a week, Virginia went from repeat favorite to rebuilding project, Duke reloaded with another class of freshman free agents and North Carolina landed the missing piece it so desperately needed.

It’s been a crazy April at the top of the ACC, and just when it looked like Duke and North Carolina might take a step back and Virginia might be entering an era of dominance, the Cavaliers’ three best players all took their rings to the NBA while the Blue Devils not only got Tre Jones back for his sophomore year but added two more top recruits in the past few days to add 2019 to the No. 1 recruiting class banner in Cameron.

Cole Anthony’s commitment to North Carolina on Tuesday was more or less expected at this point, but the Tar Heels would have been in trouble without the explosive combo guard, and they added another depth guard in Anthony Harris before the day was out.

Lauren Brownlow and Joe Ovies discuss the latest commitments to Duke and North Carolina, which continues to be the power couple of college basketball.

Former VT signee, 4-star guard Anthony Harris commits to UNC; Heels put together a top-10 class - ACCSports.com (accsports.com; Geisinger)

As if the commitment of 5-star combo guard Cole Anthony wasn’t enough, North Carolina kept it rolling on Tuesday. A few hours later, Roy Williams and UNC landed another top-100 prospect: 4-star shooting guard Anthony Harris.

Last October, Harris committed to Buzz Williams and Virginia Tech; at the time, several other ACC programs, like Miami, were in the mix, too. However, shortly after Williams elected to leave Blacksburg for barrels of cash at Texas A&M, Harris was released from his LOI to Tech. Less than three weeks later, Harris pledged to the Heels.

Today marks the biggest recruiting day for North Carolina since Harrison Barnes committed to the Tar Heels on November 13th, 2009.

Cole Anthony (No. 3) & Anthony Harris (No. 65) to UNC in the same day. Two of the best two-way guards in the 2019 class.

The commitment of Harris comes right on the heels (pardon the pun) of his official visit to Chapel Hill, which started on Monday. Harris, who stands 6-foot-3, plays his prep basketball for Paul VI Catholic in Fairfax, Virginia; 247 Sports ranks the 4-star guard as a top-65 prospect.

With Harris in the fold now, North Carolina has quickly pieced together a powerful 2019 recruiting class. Anthony and Harris join 5-star center Armando Bacot and 3-star guard Jeremiah Francis in what’s now a top-10 class, nationally.

The 2020 Outlook For Duke Basketball, Part 1 (DBR; Rich)

The offseason dominos have finally fallen, and it’s business as usual for Duke.

With Zion Williamson’s declaration for the NBA Draft last week, the Blue Devils now know for certain that they’ll lose their top three scorers from this year’s team in Williamson, RJ Barrett, and Cam Reddish. Those losses have been expected long before the trio ever step foot onto campus. But with Tre Jones’ decision to return to Durham for a second year, there’s enough reason to be optimistic that Duke’s sixth National Championship could come in 2020 to get Blue Devil fans through the long offseason.

Before we take a look at next season’s outlook, both for the Blue Devils and for the entire college basketball landscape (the later of which I’ll do in “Part 2” and “Part 3” of this preview to come), some caveats must be established. First, there is always the possibility that something unusual throws a wrench into these plans, be it an unexpected transfer or an unexpected recruit. And most importantly, it must be made abundantly clear that the 2019-2020 edition of Duke Basketball won’t have as much talent as this season’s version. It’s entirely possible that no Duke team, or no college basketball team anywhere, will ever have that much pure talent on its roster again (a fact that makes the Blue Devils’ early exit in March sting all the more).
