Welcome to World UFO Day!

A UFO is an Unidentified Flying Object that cannot immediately be identified or explained. The term is widely used for making claims about sighting an extraterrestrial spacecraft i.e. a spacecraft that does not belong to Earth and humans.
Why do we have a World UFO Day

World UFO Day is an awareness day celebrated by UFO enthusiasts to educate people about the 'undisputed evidence' that UFOs are real and to get governments de-classify files about UFO sightings. Some celebrate the day on June 24 which is the date that aviator Kenneth Arnold reported a UFO sighting for the first time in the United States. Some others observe the day on July 2 which is the day when the supposed Roswell UFO crash took place in 1947.

Syracuse Basketball: Dior Johnson reclassifying to 2021 would prove huge (itlh; Adler)

Want to see elite prospect Dior Johnson play for Syracuse basketball a year earlier than planned? You may get that chance.

Syracuse basketball commit Dior Johnson, one of the top high-school players regardless of class who is also a top-15 player in the 2022 recruiting cycle, is considering a reclassification to the 2021 class, according to several analysts.

Both national basketball analyst Corey Evans and Jake Weingarten, the founder of Stockrisers.com, tweeted on Wednesday night about the possibility of Johnson reclassifying.

The 6-foot-3 Johnson, a five-star point guard in the 2022 class who is also rated as the No. 1 or No. 2 point guard in that recruiting cycle, committed to the ‘Cuse back in February. He has said that he plans to bring more stellar players with him to the Hill.

Johnson also recently revealed that he would transfer from Mayfair High School in Lakewood, Calif., to powerhouse prep school Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va.

One of Johnson’s new teammates at Oak Hill Academy is Zion Cruz, a five-star shooting guard and top-20 prospect in the 2022 class. Cruz is a high-priority target for Syracuse in that recruiting cycle.

Should Johnson reclassify to the 2021 class, that doesn’t in any way indicate that he is interested in another squad besides the Orange. In fact, he told various media outlets when he pledged his services to the ‘Cuse earlier this year that he wants to build something special in Central New York and take on the blue bloods, including fellow Atlantic Coast Conference foes Duke and North Carolina.

Dior Johnson reportedly considering reclassifying from 2022 to 2021 (DO; Emerman)

Syracuse’s best commit since Carmelo Anthony might arrive a year earlier than expected.

Dior Johnson is considering reclassifying from 2022 to 2021, according to reports from Rivals and Stockrisers. If he reclassifies, the No. 5 recruit in 2022 would join four-star forward Benny Williams in SU’s 2021 class and be a 17-year-old freshman.

After he committed to Syracuse in February, Johnson became the subject of speculation on whether he’d jump straight from high school to the NBA if the league changed its minimum age requirement. Considering a move to the 2021 class dispels those rumors.

Johnson wrote in a February blog post for Sports Illustrated that he’s fully committed to SU and wants to beat the blue blood schools.

“I want to create my own legacy,” he wrote.

The No. 1 point guard also wrote in the blog post that he’s staying in the class of 2022, though he liked both Twitter reports from Stockrisers and Rivals on Wednesday night.

Other likely notable players on the 2021 Orange roster include Joe Girard III, Buddy Boeheim, Frank Anselem, Alan Griffin and Kadary Richmond.

A 5-star prospect from Saugerties, New York, Johnson recently transferred from Mayfair High School (California) to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. During the 2019-20 season, he averaged 23.3 points and 4.9 assists per game while helping the Monsoons to a 17-12 record.

Syracuse basketball, at No. 10, is too low in Jon Rothstein’s ACC ratings (itlh; Adler)

One of the best in the business, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, isn’t super bullish on Syracuse basketball in 2020-21.

CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein has published his off-season power rankings for the Atlantic Coast Conference, and he isn’t showing Syracuse basketball much love at all.

Rothstein has slotted the Orange at No. 10 out of the league’s 15 members, which for my money is a tad low. Then again, as he points out in his article, the NCAA has set Aug. 3 as the new early-entry withdrawal date for the 2020 NBA Draft.

This means that finalized rosters at collegiate-hoops squads around the country won’t get entirely known for several more weeks. And that’s assuming a 2020-21 campaign is played at all, amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

In any event, I think that Rothstein is about as knowledgeable as any other analyst, commentator or writer in the sport, but we can agree to disagree here.

The ‘Cuse, with four starters returning, a deep roster that is a year more experienced, and an under-rated 2020 recruiting class, will finish better than 10th in the ACC. As I stated a few days ago, if Illinois transfer Alan Griffin lands a waiver from the NCAA to immediately compete, Syracuse should amount to a top-six crew in the conference.

Rothstein had this to say about the Orange in his write-up. “Jim Boeheim boasts veteran experience, but the loss of [Elijah] Hughes’ offense on the wing is significant. [Joe] Girard was quietly one of the best freshmen in the ACC last season.”

All of that is true, but I just can’t see nine league groups faring better than the ‘Cuse in the upcoming term. In order, Rothstein has Virginia at No. 1, followed by Duke, Florida State, North Carolina, Miami, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Clemson, N.C. State, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Boeheim's Army 2020: Covid stress tests, plus how good will TBT teams be? (PS; Ditota)

The Covid-19 tests loomed.

Boeheim’s Army players took their first home tests for the coronavirus and then waited to learn the results. Some guys had worked out together in preparation for The Basketball Tournament. Some, like John Gillon, came from states spiking in new Covid cases.

“Oh yeah, I was super-scared about the tests,” said Gillon, who has split time this summer between Syracuse and his Houston home. “I didn’t feel anything, but I know you can easily get it.”

“It’s actually nerve-wracking every time you take the test,” Brandon Triche said. “I don’t look at it like, ‘Oh, that person has corona, that person is a horrible person.’ But because once you’re on a team you could be the reason why that team doesn’t have a chance to play. Some of it could be being irresponsible. But a lot of it is going out to the grocery store or something and coming into contact with someone who doesn’t even know they have it.”

Fizz Four: Buzzer-Beaters No. 2 – Orange Fizz – Free Syracuse Recruiting News (orangefizz.net; Klein)

Our Fizz Four countdown of Syracuse’s best buzzer-beaters continues with an unlikely hero. His last-second winner is not surprising because he wasn’t talented or because he was not known as a clutch player, but because the play was not even drawn up for him.

2. RYAN BLACKWELL SENDS THE STORM HOME

Madison Square Garden, Syracuse’s home away from Dome. The Orange and the Red Storm were trading blows in overtime, fighting for the right to play UCONN in the Big East Tournament Championship Game. SU’s two point lead disappeared when Ron Artest buried a 20-footer with 17 seconds left in overtime. Senior forward Todd Burgan walked the ball up for the Orange.

Boeheim didn’t call a timeout. He had no reason to with the Big East’s third leading scorer in control. Burgan was Mr. Reliable that year, averaging 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game.

But just as Boeheim was comfortable with Burgan dribbling up top, St. Johns was apprehensive. They doubled him at the top of the key as Burgan cut to his left, but he cut too hard and lost his dribble as he hit the deck. The ball trickled to Ryan Blackwell in the corner with just over two seconds remaining.

It only took Blackwell one dribble to his right to shake Artest, who assumed the sophomore would panic and force a shot up as soon as possible. When Blackwell created space, it was just a matter of fractions of a second before he propelled the Orange to the Championship Game, and enshrined himself in program history.

Two big donors push city’s swimming pool fund closer to $100K goal (PS; Weaver)

Two anonymous donations — one today for $20,000 and another Tuesday for $10,000 — have pushed the total donations toward opening two more city-run pools to nearly $75,000.

The city of Syracuse is trying to raise $100,000 to open two more pools this summer amid the financial downturn caused by the coronavirus. Mayor Ben Walsh announced the campaign Friday.

Since then, more than 350 donors have given more than $74,000, as of 4 p.m. today.

The money pool has grown quickly with people donating more than $10,000 a day, on average. The Syracuse Parks Conservancy is raising the money through a GoFundMe campaign.

The campaign runs through Friday, city spokesman Greg Loh said today. If the $100,000 goal isn’t met, city and Parks Department staff will assess how the donations can best be used toward swimming opportunities, he said.

Many donors keep their names private. Others don’t, leaving notes about learning to swim and staying cool in city pools.
