Welcome to Crab Stuffed Flounder Day!

Wow, talk about your specific food holidays! Just for the record, there is no National Crab Day (though I bet there may be one in Maryland; anyone know of any such days there?). There is also no National Flounder Day. Yet, you put these two seafood creatures together–more aptly, stuff one with the meat of another–and you have February 18’s delicious day.

And while it’s a relatively well-known way to serve flounder–or a lot of other white meat fishes like tilapia or cod–it’s not so easy to find this particular dish on a New York City menu, let alone the “best” of the crop! Still, I found a restaurant–because there’s always some place in New York that’ll serve you what you need, no matter what it is!–that makes a mean crab-stuffed flounder. The Ponty Bistro in the heart of Gramercy makes such a dish: baked instead of pan-fried, the flounder stays evenly cooked while the crab stuffing is warm yet crisp. The restaurant itself is gorgeously cozy, with a menu that will rival its more famous (and more swanky) neighbors. Definitely worth a look-see, if you’re going to be celebrating this very odd and specific food day :)

Dino Babers is Still Getting Northeastern Geography Down (TNIAAM; Keeley)

Coach Babers has a lot of good ideas on how to kickstart SU football. His ideas on geography, well, we're still getting there.

Syracuse Orange head coach Dino Babers had his first big chat with ESPN's Andrea Adelson. Dino talks about his plans how he's going to evaluate players, what it's like coming into a new situation, and plenty more.

The one that caught our eye was the way Babers says he plans on meeting with his players:

"We have weekly meetings and we call them ‘The State of the Union' since we are so close to DC," Babers said in a recent conversation with ESPN.com. "I don’t stand in front of them and lecture them. They get to ask questions to me about the program, questions about the rules, questions about the offense, the defense, the kicking game, so they can settle their mind so they can put their best foot forward in the spring.

Dino. Dino? Hey, Dino...

Is Jordan Frederick Destined to Run for Over 1000 Yards in 2016?

Can the Orange Get Back to 1000 Yard Rushers? (TNIAAM; Cassillo)

You, Syracuse Orange football fan, don't need to be told about the program's long history of successful running backs. From Jim Brown to Ernie Davis, Floyd Little to Delone Carter and so many (many) more, SU's strongest bit of identity is based in that position and the number 44 so many of the best rushers have worn.

And yet, during the program's recent struggles, the focus on the run game has vanished (helping the downfall even further by killing the tradition, in a way). From 2013 through 2015, no Syracuse player ran for 1,000 yards, and just one (Jerome Smith, with 914 in 2013) even came close. Since the same Smith rushed for nearly 1,200 yards on his own in 2012, the team's top two running backs each season have struggled to combine for that total -- the numbers have dropped there each year starting in 2013.

Call it a failed collection of offensive schemes, a loss of identity or a lack of talent at the position (you'd be wrong on the last one, by the way) if you must. But following a similar, several-year stretch of ground game futility, the Orange managed to reel off five consecutive 1,000-yard rushers from 2008 through 2012. So, why not again?

This Syracuse Football T-Shirt Isn't Gonna Spell It Out for You (TNIAAM; Keeley)

TNIAAM's latest addition to the The Great Syracuse T-shirt Collection is a riddle wrapped inside a question nestled in a box of quandaries.

You've got a lot of Syracuse Orange t-shirts. We know. We've got too many of them too.

But that doesn't mean we shouldn't keep making them. Lord knows it won't stop Manny's.

So for the newest addition to the SU fan collection, we thought it was high time that we dedicate a shirt to the new era of Syracuse Football. A shirt that shines a light on the here and now and how it's time...time for...something.

We're not going to say it because if we were to make a t-shirt with a certain person's name on it, well, that'd be grounds for a cease & desist now, wouldn't it? That's not this shirt. This shirt...it's about...you know.

Brace Yourself: Another Storm Could be Headed for Upstate NY Next Week (PS; Coin)

Another winter storm could be headed for Upstate New York next week.

The weather system that would bring the storm is still in the Sea of Japan, but indications are that it would take a similar track to the storm that slammed Upstate New York this week.

This week's storm dumped 18 inches of snow in Rochester and 5 inches of snow and 2 inches of rain in Syracuse, and brought 50-degree temperatures to Albany.

The next storm could reach the Northeast next Tuesday or Wednesday, so it's hard to predict the exact path or how much snow or rain it would bring, said Tom Kines, a senior meteorologist with AccuWeather. Early indications, though, are that the storm would take a similar path to this week's, which rolled into the Pacific Northwest, picked up tropical moisture near the Gulf of Mexico, and headed up the East Coast.

"The pattern is setting up so it's looking like the potential for a storm next week," Kines said. "It may be a potpourri of precipitation again or it may be all snow."
