Welcome to Dyngus Day!

Dyngus Day, also spelled Dingus Day, is a fun Polish Holiday. It is very popular in Poland, and in Polish communities across America. After the long Lenten holiday, Dyngus Day is a day of fun. And, perhaps a little romantic fun. It is always celebrated on the Monday after Easter.

Dyngus Day Tradition:
There are all sort of ways for boys to meet girls. But, this one takes the cake.

Guys, on this day you get to wet the ladies down. Sprinkling or drenching with water is your goal. Chase after the ladies with squirt guns, buckets, or other containers of water. The more bold and gallant boys, may choose to use cologne. Hitting (gently, please) the ladies on the legs with switches or willows is also common.

Yes ladies, you can strike back. Ladies , you get your revenge on Tuesday, when tradition has it that you throw dishes or crockery back at the boys. It has become increasingly popular for the ladies to get their revenge on Monday, tossing water back at the boys.

SU Target DB Bryce Watts Verbals to Last Place B1G School (app.com; Dunleavy)

Some of Bryce Watts' earliest football memories are of cheering on his parents' alma mater.

Now he is set to make future memories by following in their footsteps at Rutgers.

A junior defensive back at Toms River North, Watts committed Sunday night to Rutgers football's 2017 recruiting class. He is the second member of the class but the first secured by first-year coach Chris Ash.

“I went to a whole bunch of Rutgers football games when I was small," Watts said. "I used to think they were superheroes. I’d be admiring how they ran on the field. Now it’s an honor that I’m sitting here about to go to Rutgers University.”

Watts said his mother (hurdles) and stepfather (high jump) were members of the Rutgers track and field program in the 1990s. He also counted three aunts who attended the school.

“I like Rutgers because I have a lot of family ties," Watts said. "Rutgers just feels like a home. With what Coach Ash has going on, his whole regime is awesome. Everything that he took from Wisconsin, everything that he took from Ohio State, he brings it all to Rutgers and they’re creating something new."

Brussels Victim's Last Facebook Post Made Curious Connection to Syracuse University (PS; Herbert)

The last online post by Sascha Pinczowski, one of two New York City residents identified among the dead in the Brussels terrorist attacks, has made Central NY residents and Syracuse University alumni curious.

The remains of Pinczowski and her brother, Alexander, were positively identifiedby Belgian authorities and the Dutch embassy after bombings in the Belgian capital's airport and subway killed 31 people and injured nearly 300 on Tuesday. Sascha was 26 years old and Alexander was 29.

James Cain, the father of Alexander's fiancee, Cameron Cain, told the Associated Press on Friday that Alexander was on the phone with their mother to let them know they were at Brussels airport to let her know they were on their way home to the U.S. Then a loud explosion was heard and the line went dead, Cain said.

Alexander and Sascha Pinczowski were born in Greece and raised near Belgium in Holland, according to the New York Post. Their father still lives in the Netherlands.

Sascha Pinczowski spoke five languages and lived in Manhattan, recently working as a production intern at the production and design company Shiraz Events, the newspaper reported. She had graduated from Marymount Manhattan College and had a hospitality management degree from Hotelschool Den Haag in the Netherlands, while other accounts suggested she also attended Florida State University and Vesalius College in Brussels.
