Welcome to National Beer Day!

The country celebrates National Beer Day on Friday, giving you just the right excuse to indulge in a cold one as you kickstart your weekend.

Observed yearly on April 7, National Beer Day marks the anniversary of the date the Cullen–Harrison Act — the first to start ending prohibition — was enacted after being signed by former President Franklin D. Roosevelt on March 22, 1933. The day was full of joy as beer drinkers were able to purchase their beer again for the first time in 13 years.

It's been a busy offseason for Syracuse football - The Juice Online (the juice; Auger)

The fact that this hasn’t been a banner year for Syracuse football isn’t the type of news apt to set the Twitterverse ablaze.

Year One of Dino Ball resulted in a 4-8 record while seeing Eric Dungey resume the role of spectator that he occupied at the close of last year. But a lot has happened since both squads closed the books on this year’s campaign.

Though National Letter of Intent Day is in the rearview mirror, that hasn’t stopped Dino Babers from adding to the 2017 class. The Orange recently signed DT Shaquille Grosvenor from the Junior College ranks. Grosvenor will provide some much needed depth along the defensive line.

The 2017 class wasn’t Babers’ only focus though. Syracuse received a verbal from 2018 commit Trill Williams out of White Plains, NY. Williams, who had previously been committed to Rutgers, joins Gabe Horan, a tight end from Baldwinsville. Scout ranks both players as 3-stars.

Recruiting additions weren’t the only newcomers to the football team. Mike Hart (Indiana) and Tom Kaufman (Chattanooga) were replaced by Steve Stanard from Wyoming and Justin Lustig from Edinboro. In a bit of a coup, Syracuse also lured away Dave Boller from Louisville. Boller will serve as director of player personnel in an effort to strengthen recruiting efforts.

Syracuse Football Gives Three 2019 Recruits First Offers | Orange Fizz - Free Syracuse Recruiting News, Always Looking at the Future of the Orange (Orangefizz.net; Morrissette)

Dino Babers and the rest of the Orange coaching staff have been pretty good at offering recruits early, but let’s be honest… Usually when a recruit tweets about his latest offer from Syracuse, the Orange is just one of a handful of schools in the mix.

This week, the script has flipped. SU handed out three “first” offers, which gives the school a unique recruiting edge. Here are the details.

Carrier Dome filled with 200 truckloads of dirt for Monster Jam (video) (PS; Collins)

Before Grave Digger and El Toro Loco tear up the Dome on Saturday, a whole lot of dirt has to be laid down.

It takes 4,000 cubic yards - or 200 dump trucks full -- of dirt to construct the ramp-filled course, according to Mike Csizmar, Monster Jam's international track construction manager.

Because the trucks can only enter the Carrier Dome two at a time, it requires about 15 hours just to haul in the dirt. Construction of the course takes an additional 6 hours. As of Thursday afternoon, the track build was in its final stages.

Monster Jam features oversized custom trucks jumping, flying and crushing anything unfortunate enough to get in their way. The trucks are about 12 feet tall by 12 feet wide, weigh a minimum 10,000 pounds and are supported by 66 inch tires.
