Welcome to National Chocolate Milkshake Day!

National Chocolate Milkshake day is dedicated to the chocolate version of the frothy and thick drink, that is usually made with milk, ice cream, and flavored syrup. Milkshakes were first mentioned in print in Britain in 1885, and may have contained whiskey at the time. By the turn of the 20th century, they were seen as being more wholesome, and the alcohol was replaced with syrups such as chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Another version of the milk shake, the malted milkshake, was invented in 1887. This shake added malted milk, which consists of a mixture of evaporated milk, wheat flour, and malted barley. Other names for a milkshake include frappé, frosted, thick shake, and cabinet, which is the term used in Rhode Island. Milkshakes have traditionally been sold in many places: malt or soda shops, ice cream shops, diners, fast food restaurants, and other similar type of establishments. Many times milkshakes are made with a blender using a stainless steel cup. As not all of the milkshake always fits in a glass, the stainless steel cup with the extra mixture is brought to the table with a spoon.

Syracuse Football: Top 5 bittersweet oranges from loss to MTSU (itlh.com; Edsen Jr)

What? What the fake?

Complete and utter nonsense. Now don’t get me wrong the Orange didn’t lose the game because of this BUT it was something that affected the game. Orange is the New Fast and everyone knows it because when we talked with play-by-play man Chip Walters he mentioned it. Plus everyone just knows Babers MO.

So the Blue Raiders dropped like flies when the Orange were moving too fast? Convenient. But the worst one came at the end of the game when the Orange were about to snap the ball and clearly the Blue Raiders would’ve been called for 12 men on the field and one of their corners drops like he got shot. Convenient again.

Yet the referees did nothing. Although miraculously he rose from the dead mere minutes later and looked just fine. I couldn’t have been screaming at the WatchESPN app more than I was. It’s impossible to tell when players are faking or when they’re really injured, but sometimes are just so obvious you have to do something about it. People can call it ‘gamesmanship’ but I call it bullshit.

Why SU football’s offense struggled against MTSU – Orange Fizz – Free Syracuse Recruiting News (orangefizz.net; Leonard)

Going into Saturday afternoon, many thought Syracuse’s game against Middle Tennessee State would come down to how SU’s fragile secondary would hold up without starting safety Antwan Cordy. Hardly anyone was worried about the Orange offense, which had scored a whopping 111 points in its previous two games. However, the Syracuse defense stepped up on Saturday and the SU offense struggled to move the ball all game long. Quarterback Eric Dungey only accounted for 180 yards through the air and both Syracuse tailbacks rushed for less than 25 yards apiece. Now, it’s easy to look at those benign numbers and assume this loss falls on Dungey’s shoulders. But, don’t let that fool you, the Orange offensive line was actually the main reason SU lost Saturday.

The Blue Raiders pass-rush got past SU’s line for six sacks on the day and frankly that number could have been higher if it wasn’t for Dungey’s scrambling ability. MTSU bullied SU’s young guards and tackles from the opening whistle. And the scariest part about that? Scott Shafer’s defense is not even known for having a dangerous pass-rush. Actually, far from it. Middle Tennessee State ranked 88th out of 128 total FBS schools last year with an average of 1.77 sacks per game and only managed one sack against Vanderbilt in week one. Yet they came out in week two and pushed SU around in the trenches, which subsequently took Dino Babers entire offense out of rhythm.

Brent Stockstill shoulder injury: 'Too early to tell' if MTSU QB will play vs. Minnesota (dnj.com; Bacharach)

Everything’s sweeter after a win, Brent Stockstill said at a press conference Monday, making light of an injury he suffered to his left (throwing) shoulder in MTSU’s 30-23 victory at Syracuse on Saturday.

“I didn’t play great in the first half, but after that happened, I played pretty good,” the MTSU quarterback said. “So maybe stuff like that (should) happen more often.”

In reality, an offense that has struggled to develop a rhythm in the early portion of the season can’t avoid to lose its most valuable piece ahead of a game against another Power Five opponent, Minnesota (2:30 p.m. CT Saturday, Big Ten).

Stockstill had an MRI on Sunday, but “we’re still waiting on the results of that,” said MTSU coach Rick Stockstill, who added he hoped to have the test results back late Monday. “It's only Monday and we don't practice today. ... Still too early to tell (if he will play in MTSU’s game at Minnesota on Saturday).”

Syracuse Football: Jaguars injury at WR opens door for Amba Etta-Tawo (itlh.com; Esden Jr)

Former Syracuse football star Amba Etta-Tawo just got the break he needed. ITLH discusses what this could mean for his immediate NFL future
Despite possessing the greatest single season in Syracuse football history, Amba Etta-Tawo has struggled to find his footing in the NFL.

He didn’t get drafted, he didn’t make the final 53 man roster, but a light at the end of the tunnel for Amba, he made the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad.

While some may look down upon Amba, lets be real. Making it in the NFL is hard, I mean really hard. There are only 53 jobs per team, multiply that by 32, and you have an elite group.

But there is another group and that’s the practice squad. Each team can have between 8 to 10 players there, for more information on how a practice squad works check out this informational here.

The game of football is a sport that eats its’ young. Throw the Jacksonville Jaguars most talented offensive playmaker Allen Robinson into the fire. In Week 1, he suffered a torn ACL and he’s out for the season, per multiple sources.

While disappointing for the Jaguars, injuries provide opportunities for others. In the bullpen warming up is Etta-Tawo. The Jaguars obviously saw something in him because they kept him on their practice squad following a strong camp.

Did a woman die watching 'It' movie in Syracuse theater? That's a clown question (PS; Herbert)

Did a woman die watching 'It' movie in Syracuse theater?
Did a Syracuse woman die while watching "It" in a movie theater? That's a clown question, bro.

A fake news report, from a site calling itself the "Sunday Post," claims a "Syracuse woman dies in cinema while watching 'It' remake." The hoax story, dated Monday, has begun picking up traction on Facebook, fooling some readers into believing this happened:

"A 41-year-old woman died in a Syracuse cinema auditorium Saturday while watching a screening of Stephen Kings horror movie remake, IT. The incident occurred at Regal Cinemas in Syracuse, New York. The cinema-goer attended the new release screening with friends and had complained of chest pains and difficulty breathing during one the film's climax scenes. According to witnesses, the woman let out a large scream and then collapsed in her seat."

But the story is false, and the website sundaypost.org is not a real newspaper or media organization.

PopCulture.com reports some readers may have been fooled because "The Sunday Post" is the name of a real publication in Scotland. The imposter site, meanwhile, doesn't let readers in on the joke as it claims it's a historic paper based in Jackson, Missisissippi.

Similar stories on the same site claim a woman or a man died during a screening of the new "It" remake in other theaters in other cities. One Louisiana radio station, 93.7 The Dawg, fell for a version that claimed an audience member died at a Cinemark theater in Monroe, La., and reported it as fact.

However, there have been no actual verified reports of anyone being literally scared to death by the film.

The NCAA needs a rule change related to "injuries". Maybe sitting out the entire possession is required though this will also penalize teams with real injuries.

Yeah, but if they do have "real" injuries, they probably should sit out the possession--just like they did with Dungey after getting another cheap shot.

ruh-roh...

They rattled Dungey last year until he got knocked out early. Watch that game and you'll see him with very happy feet right from the get go...understandingly so.
