Welcome to World Brain Tumor Day!

World Brain Tumor Day is celebrated on June 8 every year. The day aims to raise awareness and educate people about the brain tumor. Brian Tumor Day is observed to pay tribute to brain tumor patients and their families, caregivers, scientists and health professionals.

What is Brain Tumor?

A brain tumor occurs when cells grow at an abnormal rate to form a mass of abnormal cells within the brain. There are two main types of tumors: cancerous (malignant) tumors and benign (non-cancerous) tumors.

A brain tumor can be a life-threatening disease but completely treatable. Some of the common treatments of brain tumor include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, anti-seizure medication, steroid treatment, etc.

Syracuse Football Satellite Camp Schedule (SI; McAllister)

Syracuse football will not have any on campus camps this summer for the second straight year. The staff will, however, participate in satellite, off campus camps with other college programs. Here is a schedule of which camps and where Syracuse football is expected to be this month.

June 13th: Penn State camp (PA)
June 14th: Youngstown State camp (OH)
June 14th: North Central College football clinic (IL)
June 23rd: Wagner camp (NY)
June 25th: Penn State camp (PA)
June 25th: Charlotte camp (NC)

Those are camps scheduled for the rest of the month. The Orange has already participated in camps at Mercer (June 3rd), Ferris State (June 3rd), Monmouth (June 6th) and William & Mary (June 6th). While the preference is to host camps yourself, there are some benefits to attending camps elsewhere.

Mainly, the staff can be divided to attend multiple camps on the same day. This allows for a larger pool of talent to evaluate. In addition, there is less logistical planning for the school and the program.

Camps have been a staple of college football recruiting over the years, including at Syracuse. The Orange has discovered or offers players based on camp performances. Some recent examples include Matthew Bergeron, Ben LaBrosse, Chase Atkinson, Geoff Cantin-Arku, Tyrell Richards and others.

Miami Hurricanes Pro Football Focus 18th metric ranking (caneswarning.com; Rubenstein)

In a simulation run by Pro Football Focus, the Miami Hurricanes came up as the 18th best team in the country according to their metrics. Miami returns over 90 percent of its production on offense and defense according to the ESPN Football Power Index. Quarterback D’Eriq King grades out as the best returning player for Miami.

Miami enters the 2021 season as the consensus second favorite in the ACC Coastal Divison behind North Carolina. The Tar Heels and Hurricanes are a distant second and third behind Clemson in the consensus odds to win the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2021. Miami was blown out by Clemson and UNC in 2020.

If the question if the U is back is ever going to be answered in the affirmative, Miami has to win the big games. The Miami Hurricanes were a three-point favorite against North Carolina in 2020. The Tar Heels literally ran over Miami with 554 rushing yards in a 62-26 victory to secure a berth in the Orange Bowl.

North Carolina is 11th in the PFF rankings and Alabama who Miami opens against in Atlanta on September 4 is not surprisingly first. Alabama is given a 23 percent chance to win the National Championship and 51 percent odds to win the SEC in 2021. North Carolina has odds of three percent for the national title and 18 percent for the ACC.

NC State football recruiting: Pack working to build for 2022, Torren Wright visit this week - ACCSports.com (accsports.com; Geisinger)

With recruiting structures looking more normal-ish in college sports these days, NC State football recruiting is a full process.

Late last week, NC State landed 3-star 2022 quarterback MJ Morris, from Atlanta; over the weekend, 3-star defensive end Nick Campbell picked the Wolfpack over West Virginia, Nebraska and Virginia.

For now, NC State’s 2022 class sits at three: Morris, Campbell and 3-star offensive lineman Rylan Vann, a local prospect from Cary. However, that number is about to grow, quickly, it seems.

According to a report from Inside Pack Sports, NC State offered 3-star defensive end Vincent Anthony Jr., who hails from nearby Durham.

IPS INTEL: NC State extended an offer on the first day of camp to Durham (NC) Jordan defensive end Vincent Anthony, who already held 15 offers. How does it impact his recruitment ($)? https://t.co/ecPCIGUfx9
— Inside Pack Sports (@InsidePackSport) June 7, 2021

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Anthony plays for C.E. Jordan High School. More than a dozen schools have offered Anthony, including Duke. Anthony is set to take an official visit to Duke later this month, too.

Duke and another ACC program — Georgia Tech — are two of the current leaders for Anthony. Ole Miss is in the mix as well.

Plenty of Ivy League programs are also in on Anthony: Harvard, Penn and Columbia have all offered Anthony.

One of the top 10 in-state prospects in the class will visit NC State this week, too: 4-star linebacker Torren Wright.

Splitting P5 Footprint States (RX; HM)

Splitting P5 Footprint States

I got this idea from a UNC fan on CSNBBS who goes by "XLance" [LINK]. He brought up the fact that many ACC footprint states are shared by another P5 conference. The same can be said of the Big Ten, Big XII, and SEC. Here are those states...

States where conference fan loyalty is split

Pennsylvania (ACC/B1G)
Indiana (ACC/B1G)
Kentucky (ACC/SEC)
South Carolina (ACC/SEC)
Georgia (ACC/SEC)
Florida (ACC/SEC)
Iowa (B1G/XII)
Texas (SEC/XII)

2021 Toughest/Easiest Schedules (Steele)

Phil Steele has put out his simple (NCAA style) 2021 Strength of Schedule table. He's quick to point out that this is not his method - which he'll calculate and post in his upcoming preview magazine, no doubt - but this is the way the NCAA calculates SoS. That said, here are some highlights.

Which teams play the most difficult schedules?

The way-too-early top 25 for the 2021 college football season (yardbarker.com; Mezydlo)

This unprecedented, discombobulated 2020 college football season just ended with Alabama rolling to another national championship. So, we decided to look ahead to the 2021 campaign, when we hope there is a little more normalcy to the game.
Here's a look at our top 25 teams to watch heading into the 2021 college football season.

25. Coastal Carolina

Out of the Sun Belt, the Chanticleers were one of the best stories of this topsy-turvy 2020 campaign. We'll see if Coastal can build on that special 11-1 season. Having quarterback Grayson McCall (2,488 yards, 26 touchdowns, three interceptions; 569 rushing yards, seven touchdowns) certainly helps. So too should be the returning talent from a defense that allowed an average of 20.3 points in 2020.

24. Ball State

The Cardinals' 7-1 2020 season that resulted in a Mid-American Conference title and a bowl win since will go down as one of the greatest in the history of the Ball State program. As for 2021, the Cardinals are poised to return 20 of 22 starters. That includes quarterback Drew Pitt, who threw for 2,164 yards with 17 touchdowns and six interceptions from an offense that averaged 34.3 points this past season.

23. Oklahoma State

We know Mike Gundy's Cowboys will be competitive. The question is will they be good enough to seriously challenge for a Big 12 title? We sound like a broken record (for those of age who know what records sound like), but Oklahoma State tends to follow the same plotline: A good, but not a great team. The return of quarterback Spencer Sanders (2,007 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, eight interceptions) will highlight the Cowboys' collective effort for 2021.

22. Penn State

That nightmare -- and historic -- 0-5 start ultimately doomed the Nittany Lions' 2020 season. However, they did win their final four games -- allowing an average of 17.3 points during those victories -- and have some solid returning defensive talent. Sean Clifford (4,732 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, 16 interceptions) could again be running the offense, but receiver Jahan Dotson (52 receptions, 885 yards, eight touchdowns) might end up being the star of the 2021 offense.

Marketplace and ‘ghost kitchen’ projects planned for Syracuse’s Valley area (PS; $; Cazentre)

Two vacant storefronts on South Salina Street in the city’s Valley neighborhood will be converted into a community marketplace and a “ghost kitchen” / event space in a project unveiled today.

The developers, 7even Streams, LLC, hope to reopen the spaces at 4702 and 4710 S. Salina St. within six months or so.

The goal is to help restore the neighborhood business district while offering opportunities, primarily for minority and female entrepreneurs. It also includes a mentoring program for people recently released from prison.

“This is about turning things around,” said David Hills, a partner in 7even Streams with his wife, Simone, and Victoria Coit. “You turn the property around, turn the neighborhood around, and that helps turn the people around.”

The marketplace will go into the 5,000-square-foot former commercial building at 4702 S. Salina St., on the corner of Seeley Avenue. Part of it will be taken by meat market, to “help with food access” in the neighborhood, Coit said.

Much of the rest will be devoted to a collection of 8-foot by 8-foot or 8-foot by 10-foot stalls for entrepreneurs to sell goods, including foods or other items.

Until I did the research, I didn't realize just how much tougher FSU and GT schedules really are!
Both teams play Clemson, UNC, Miami, Notre Dame, and an SEC contender.
