Sean Hickey Excited to Play Against Pittsburgh (post-gazette.com; Batko)

Football weekends for Sean Hickey growing up were jam-packed: Franklin Regional High School games Friday nights, Pitt games Saturdays, Steelers games Sundays.

This weekend, Hickey will be a part of that routine for plenty of young football fans when he plays at Heinz Field for the first time -- but maybe not the last, given his pro prospects -- for Syracuse against Pitt. Syracuse (3-7, 1-5 ACC) has struggled this season and will not be bowl-eligible, but Hickey, a redshirt senior left tackle and Franklin Regional graduate, has no shortage of motivation to finish the year strong despite battling injuries the past couple games.

"I'll be out there the last two games," Hickey said last week, a much-needed off week for him and the banged-up Orange. "Growing up, I was a big Pitt fan, a very big Pitt fan. ... It'll be fun to just go out there and play on Heinz Field, some place I've always been at but never actually played on it, so I definitely want to do that and have that experience."

Perhaps few would blame Hickey if he decided to sit out the rest of the season. After all, this preseason first-team All-ACC selection is projected to be a mid-round NFL draft pick in the spring. Hickey, 23, even considered going pro after his junior season, but says now he made a "smart decision" in returning to school.

Aggressive Adams Ready for Syracuse (scout, Dohn)

Syracuse found a sleeper in Norwalk High's Evan Adams, and the offense lineman spoke with Scout this week about his development, and being committed to the Orange.

Evan Adams committed to Syracuse in the summer, and the long and athletic offensive lineman from Norwalk High is excited to get to campus.

The 6-foot-6, 275-pounds Adams has the length and athleticism to play offensive tackle, and likes the direction of Syracuse's program under coach Scott Shafer.

Franklin has been spectacular really. From being in on a lot of ST plays, he's gotten his hat in the ring most opportunities he's had out there. Glad he's getting the start this week.

ACC Week 13 predictions (ESPN)

Syracuse at Pittsburgh: It has been a rough few weeks for the Panthers, who are fighting to make a bowl game. The Panthers have two of the conference's best offensive players inJames Conner and Tyler Boyd, and it will be tough for Syracuse and its struggling offense to match the production of those two. The Panthers defense should get a bit of a break this week after allowing 147 points in their past three games. Pitt 34, Syracuse 24

Shafer says all three young QBs had good weeks of practice and are healthy.

Shafer confirms that Terrel Hunt won't be available for the rest of the season.

Ashton Broyld and Brisly Estime will not be available vs. Pitt. Shafer thinks a couple linemen could be back if today's practice goes well.

Syracuse QBs AJ Long and Mitch Kimble will both "probably" play at Pittsburgh, head coach Scott Shafer just said on his weekly radio show.

Shafer on the dangerous nature of football, said it comes down to individual's choice: "Every injury I've ever had has been well worth it."

Shafer explained why he and others play football despite natural dangers. Said it's fun. "You only live once." #YOLO
