Connecticut MLB Zachary Kastenhuber Likes Orange, Harvard With Decision Close (PS; Bailey)
Syracuse landed a verbal commitment from one linebacker on Thursday, Aquinas (Rochester, N.Y.) Institute outside linebacker Taylor Riggins, and there's a good chance the Orange picks up another by the end of the weekend.
Choate (Wallingford, Conn.) Rosemary Hall middle linebacker Zachary Kastenhuber is high on SU after a recent unofficial visit and could make a decision as early as Friday, Choate head coach Lawrence Spinnato said on Thursday.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Kastenhuber is rated three stars by At their request, this network is being blocked from this site., the only major recruiting service to assign him a grade, and is likely choosing between Syracuse and Harvard, Spinnato said. He also has offers from UConn, Navy, Yale and Holy Cross, according to 247Sports.com.
Kastenhuber recorded 107 tackles, including 44 for loss, 18 sacks and three forced fumbles in 10 games played as a junior, according to his highlight reel.
The Orange has nine players currently pledged to its Class of 2016, including Riggins and outside linebacker/nickelback Will Harper.
Don Bosco (Ramsey, N.J.) Preparatory High School middle linebacker target Brandon Simon is also a possibility to join the group. He visits SU on Saturday and plans on announcing a commitment by Monday,
