For those are already to move on from Red

We took a bus to NY last week. We will take a bus there to play Maryland in a couple of weeks.
Plan is to take a bus to B.C. and Pitt. That sound like a school that is flush with cash to but
out a coach?
Takes me back to my student manager days when that was the norm in transportation. And we would bus back after the games!

Who is we? The team? They’re doing that because the athletic department doesn’t have any money?

Not surprised since the airline travel expenses increase each year plus the additions of the Cali, Stanford and SMU to the schedule. Remember when they fly to the airport they still have to charter a bus to and from the arena for the time period they are there.

Also, the issues at airports with delays and cancellations in the NE due to weather and shortage of air traffic controllers makes it more reliable to bus everyone.

Off topic but didn't the team used to take a bus down to MSG for the BET?
We use to fly to LGA and the team for years would stay at the LGA Marriott. The year of the huge blizzard (1994 or 5?) put an end to that, as the BE required that all teams had to stay in Manhattan. I miss the East Side Marriott and their lobby bar.

Pitt is on a weeknight in February, but these other games are weekends and off times for school so it makes sense to save the money even if you could afford it.

No. It's second rate. And would have to hurt us somewhat in recruiting.
Are we talking regular coach bus or a first class bus that are significantly more comfortable.

I said it a couple days ago, people don’t realize how far behind this program is when it comes to these things. A huge donor yesterday told me “NIL or die” and the main focus is getting players and spending money on them. Unfortunately this is reality when spending goes elsewhere. Melo center becoming outdated. Workout equipment outdated. I’m currently working with my brother to get them treadmills from this decade. So when people go nuts about Red and the coaching, I look at how much the program is lacking and the loudest complainers are usually the cheapest. Welcome to the NIL world

Really? First rate programs fly. Second rate programs bus. And the basketball program understands that.
Does this mean we are prioritizing football above all else or that the AD has no money for anything?

It means we are preparing for the future where every player gets paid and money goes to the settlement.
Bus is not great but on those trips every kid has te equivalent of a first class seat and when you factor in getting to airport 2 hours early. Transportation to the airport. Luggage wait time. Transportation from the airport to the city.
NY, Boston, Pittsburgh probably a push or better.

Keep in mind that the AD needs to find $20MM in direct payments to athletes and fund 60-100 additional scholarships ( out of 211 additional allowed in the sports in our portfolio) beginning in July. Only two potential approaches: Cut costs or increase revenue.
I am sure we are not alone.
