Aside from winning the 2003 championship, what else can you point to as the reason(s) why our recruiting has taken off since 2000?

Mike Hopkins. As some recruits have said, "he's the funniest white guy" you'll ever meet. Hop kills it on the recruiting trail. And of course success breeds success. Once you get some good players, and they go pretty high in the draft, then you get some more. Good players get used to having other good players on the team, and then you have your sixth man go 4th in the draft, and the rest is history.
