Fran Brown Tells All

I laughed when he told every listener to keep on top of Byron when they see him about his weight.
Byron has done a pretty incredible job. He has a little more to go but his transformation in 12 months is impressive. Kid deserves a lot of kudos.

Also crazy that demetres is still younger than Calvin. I’m expecting Demetres to take over as the leader on D. He’s built for it. Very impressive young man who is going to be a star and public face of the team.

Yeah Byron you can tell. His face looks slimmer. Can't wait to see him play again this fall.

He was pretty open and accountable. Took the blame on the QB situation entirely.

Poster must not have watched the entire thing because he gave a lot of good comments.
I listened to the whole thing. Point is they are just words. You expect him to say the right things and feel good about the team. It is the team he assembled after all. We need results on the field.

I’m a fan of Fran but every coach says things preseason like this. We “got the guys we wanted” etc. Good energy, but really doesn’t mean much if we crap the bed again.

All I want next season is for the Dome not to be empty like it was last year. Recruits need to see fans show up, create real home-field energy, and turn the Dome into a winning football environment. I expect the staff to build on the elite 2026 class and hopefully surpass it by putting together a strong top 25 2027 class as well. Winning games in the Dome has to be the standard.

I will know when I see him pull out into flats on end around that he is where they want him. I want our oline to block downhill even during rpo cause it happens so fast it won’t matter. Need mean tough nosed guys who wanna own los.

That is not the vibe I got from the video at all. I did not hear any "rah rah" about the players, only some of the new coaches.

I did hear a lot related to how he handles getting rid of players and coaches, and how he is learning to do his job better.

This was sprint retro for a sprint that failed spectacularly.

The Dome should never look the way it did last season again. Fans have to show up and the team has to win.
I was there with an alleged 35k fans when we opened the 1987. I had a section to myself. I cannot believe that there were even 30k there. The attendance later that very year was so much much better. Winning does a lot when it comes to making a Dome event a "must attend" event... losing has the opposite effect. Simple equation.

But is it level 5 energy?

Seemed like a great interview to me. He acknowledged things went bad and things that heavily landed on him including him admitting they were a bit too arrogant after year 1 and needing to get knocked down to see their many fallacies. Him talking to Saban and Coughlin snd the advice he’s getting from the best in the business is important.

This year will tell us a lot but everything he is saying can both be necessary coach speak while also the truth.

That’s why I said we need to win as well

Yes, but it is circular... to win, it helps to have fans... to have fans, it helps to win. Unfortunately, winning usually has to come first... all the more these days.

I think the most regrettable thing about 2025 was falling so flat at home. You can make the argument that we played better on the road in all games except ND, even after the Angeli injury (SMU/Ga Tech/Miami v. Duke/Pitt/UNC/BC). Again, ND was a pretty clear exception. I was not even impressed with how we played against UConn and Colgate at home. Duke was a decent crowd for a team that was 3-1 heading into it.
