When we hired a coach who could coach, we did average/well. (Marrone with 2 bowl wins). When we hired coaches who can't actually coach (Shafer, Babers, Brown) we stink. The recipe ain’t challenging fellas.
he's all hat no cattleWorst loss ever
The preseason competition for QB1 was extremely tight.he's all hat no cattle
Are you in love with the Coach who said Syracuse was his Dream job...then left in the middle of the night to go to buffalo...then quit on them? That same Doug Marone? No thanks, don't want that guy back again. Syracuse's problem is a lack of talent to compete with the teams we have to face...and not coaching. This Coach and his staff, missed badly on Rick Collins. To their credit, they recognized it right away, and went out and got Angeli. Unfortunately, Angeli got hurt, and the cupboard was empty after him!!! You folks kill me... give Brown a chance to work his plan before you start calling for his head. Syracuse football was a mess when he took over and one year can't fix it. I think he showed what he could do with talented players...let him bring in some more talent...When we hired a coach who could coach, we did average/well. (Marrone with 2 bowl wins). Not the time, Mrs. Marrone. When we hired a coach who could coach, we did average/well. (Marrone with 2 bowl wins).
Are you serious??? Franklin got fired from Penn State for not being able to beat Ohio State enough (ever). Clemson boards are turning on Dabo this year. Fans are not all that masochistic. Win or lose your job. Used to be coaches got 5-7 years. Now it is 3ish. Fran has one more year.Didnt we win 10 games last season?
Our fan base sucks. I hate it
I'm sort of on board with this but Fran has stocked the cupboard and QB play is not the only dreadful element of this team. Also, in my opinion Fran basically stopped trying from UNC on. It's coaching malpractice and the fact that is forgiven boggles my mind. Are you in love with the Coach who said Syracuse was his Dream job...then left in the middle of the night to go to buffalo...then quit on them? That is probably true but it’s still malpractice. You simply can’t do that at this level and you definitely can’t make it public. And the defense was not a lost cause if the coordinator knew what he was doing. He decided to play young players. The result is we’re getting killed. Right or wrong, Fran moved on from veteran players. He knew after the injury this was a lost season.
Did he? Move on? I don’t remember much of a youth movement in the first 3 or 4 games post Clemson. He decided to play young players. The result is we’re getting killed. Right or wrong, Fran moved on from veteran players. He knew after the injury this was a lost season.
It's crazy to me that after a 10-3 start that Fran will head in to next season barely above .500 though.“13 wins in his first two seasons…
We are Syracuse University — not a blue blood, not a cash-printing SEC titan, not a program with a conveyor belt of five-stars. So let’s put Fran’s start in perspective by comparing him to our past coaches:
- Dino Babers: 8 wins (4 + 4) — had HC experience
- Scott Shafer: 9 wins (7 + 2)
- Doug Marrone: 12 wins (4 + 8) — no HC experience
- Greg Robinson: 5 wins (1 + 4)
- Paul Pasqualoni: 20 wins (10 + 10) — inherited loaded rosters
- Dick MacPherson: 8 wins (4 + 4)
- Frank Maloney: 8 wins (2 + 6)
- Ben Schwartzwalder: 10 wins (5 + 5)
Fran Brown: 13 wins (and a 10-win season already — one of only a handful in program history).
He has the second-most wins through two seasons of any Syracuse coach since WWII not named Paul Pasqualoni.
People keep crying, “But he had no head-coaching experience!”
Cool. Neither did Saint Dougy when he walked in the door. I guess that was magically okay because he carried binders or something.
This program is already better than it has been for most of the 21st century. The recruiting is better. The energy is better. The overall feel is better.
But sure — the galaxy-brain solution is to toss him out after Year 2 like yesterday’s trash.
**Brilliant. Truly visionary stuff.
13-4 start. Even worse. It's crazy to me that after a 10-3 start that Fran will head in to next season barely above .500 though.
That strategy works in sports where your young players are under contract; it has an obvious flaw where the competition can freely tamper with and poach young talent. He decided to play young players. Oh agreed it is an UGLY slideIt's crazy to me that after a 10-3 start that Fran will head in to next season barely above .500 though.
Me too. What has happened to this forum. I miss the pay side.Didnt we win 10 games last season?
