LMAO. The only draft Stevenson has been involved with is fantasy football.

He’s my age. No Gen Xer was ever being drafted.

He's just doing the dumb “back in my day” rabble rabble rabble. He grew up with Atari and Debbie Gibson. Truly a hard case.

My post's intent was in general reference to the "old guy" snark, etc., not specifically to anyone in particular.

One's own interpretation of "old guy" is just that, their own, just as you chose to determine. It's a relatively loose term, so it can carry a very broad range based upon one's own thinking. Carry on...

I should have said he did a lot of bargain basement shopping, you are right that the quantity wasn’t much different year over year(16 in 2025 vs 19 in 2024). We can afford better guys than we got this last time. If you build via HS, you need money for retention, so we gotta pay either way. He has a lot of holes to fill and isn’t going to just hope the young kids on the current roster grow up fast

We need a lot though. Can we afford it? IMO we need...

a QB2
a big RB2
2 starter quality OL
1 starter quality S
2 start quality LBs
2 starter quality DTs
2 starter quality DEs

That is 25% of your 2 deep

I’ve hesitated from posting so I can decompress a bit.

Coach Mac won 2 games his second year. Those 2 wins came from Rutgers and Colgate. Guy was 6-15 through his first 2 years. Over the next 4 seasons he went 6-5, 6-5, 7-4, and 5-6. 6 years, 30-36. If he was fired after his 6th year, he’s an uninspired footnote in Syracuse history.

You can add whatever context you want but I’d argue the job is extraordinarily more difficult now. I guess my point is, yesterday sucked. This season sucked. But when I take a step back and look at the last two years… Alum relations are better than they (I have seen) been in a very long time. We have re-established recruiting connections in our home state and across the east coast. Up until recently we’ve been talked about on a national level in a (mostly) positive light, from people who used to joke about not knowing we still had a football program. We had a lot of momentum and a lot of positive energy surrounding the program, that we, honestly, haven’t really had in my lifetime (I’m 35 and yes Donavan McNabb and company took place during my lifetime but I was too young to really understand/appreciate).

When I look back and read about Coach Mac’s tenure as SUHC, I realize it takes time and patience to build. So, to me, the question really becomes, do I think/believe HCFB is the right guy to exercise that patience?

I’m still betting on Fran Brown.

A lot of good comments above. I have always been baffled when an SU team doesn't show up. We've seen that so many times with almost every coach outside of Marrone. These kids only get so many games, and despite the W-L record, I never understand how we can come out flat on any Saturday against any opponent. I also think you can coach conservatively when you are outgunned to enhance your chances, and I am very worried at how poorly our decision making has been this year. We have put ourselves in horrible positions for no reason. It screams poor and unprepared leadership. That should never happen given the 12 days of "work," these guys plan for every year.

That’s the big question: how much of that $20 mil that we are allowed to spend via the AD will we spend, and how much NIL from donors do we have.

Give him some time; I believe he will get it done!
