I remember Tebucky Jones played offense when he first came to SU and was switched to defense. Worked out pretty good for him.

And he made the switch in one off season then ended up a first round pick. Freak athlete. Kinda crazy he wasn't better at RB.

Ray Lewis always said tackling is about desire. At this point the only fix is getting better players on defense who can shed blocks and aren't scared to tackle. Fran even said it may be fear related.

If they don't get ejected for targeting first. Guys aren't allowed to tackle like that anymore. I remember when Jones knocked WVU's TE out of the game. Guy never had a chance to take a step after catching the ball, Jones got there so fast and hard.

i saw maybe seven targeting calls last weekend . not one was upheld. if the dude is knocked silly then take a look. if not play on. getting way too technical with this replay crap.

I know all that, but when you look at his size and speed, it's a little surprising he couldn't beat out some of the guys that played in front of him. He was a year ahead of McIntosh, out weighed him by about 40lbs, and was fast enough that Pete Carroll tried moving him to CB. It doesn't surprise you a little that he wasn't the #2 guy behind Thomas in '96 and considered the favorite to start in '97? I suppose he just lacked the instincts. Regardless, it worked out great for him.
