So it's not just SU fans taking shots at Rutgirls and the B1G. Funny quote from the Bill Snyder story:

"Fair points all around, and you need to look no further than recent realignment for evidence of that. TV is the reason why Rutgers somehow got an invitation to the Big Ten."

I think the Nunes blog about the sham of the spring game is on to something. No wonder the spring game has never built any momentum with drawing fans when for so many years it has been such a disaster - P using the weird modified scoring system and not doing a real game. GRob being such a disaster in every way and having thud drills, turning the game into a bizarre event with bands and crummy contests to try to somehow create interest, Marrone keeping everything so vanilla and not having enough bodies to do a real game.

good lord - no wonder the thing has always drawn so poorly. It's actually impressive that a few thousand people actually do show up given the last two decades. Start doing a real game format every year while showing tangible improvement on the field in the fall and it will grow.

its not like many other schools have the same spring game issues, we dont draw because people dont care , not because it has a funky format.

Well, no, the two are related. If you take the time to go, and then it's a What event that makes no sense, then why go back?

The spring game will never have great crowds until SU wins reguardly.
Outside if locales which place FAR TOO much emphasis on college football, nobody goes to the spring scrimmage. Its importance is rivaled onlyvby the Junior prom or the homecoming queen.
