OK - Kiyan’s 2 makes were both extremely difficult drives,
and he had 3 dimes!
plus 3 boards.
That’s all very good.

But he got abused on D as per usual.

Betsey having a career game from 3 -
that makes sense.

Do-it-all Donnie had an amazing game across the board.
I get that you don’t want to give him this award every night, but -
The way he played was the definition of a fighter.

And Nait had THIRTEEN dimes!!!!

Will Kyle did all the usual Will Kyle things:
9, 9, & 3 swats.
Only 1 foul.

JJ had another solid outing, 7/10 from the field, 3 & 3.
Only 1 TO.

Now - if this is something the team votes for, and that’s how it worked out-
whatevs.

His defense is better than Bells, even if it is not great. His handle is not his strength but even that is still better than Bell's. He also has no issues with consistent effort like Bell did. Hard to put a price on that.

I think Betsey can do a lot more. He HAS to play bigger. I've said it before but he plays like he's 6'0" tall. I would strap him to a chair and make him watch tape of CJ Fair.

Actually Alex Karaban. They have a very similar shot form. I think Betsey can do a lot more as well, but this team right now needs him to knock down 3s. His stock in the College Basketball world has to be rising among coaching circles, going to be a guy you need to put resources in to keep.

The big one late was the wrong play and I'm glad he got bailed out. The correct play was pass to Donnie for a dunk. He drove towards Donnie and the basket and kicked out for a 3, which fortunately went in. Either way, glad he didn't try a contested layup. Progress.

I may be in the minority, but I thought it was the right play. The paint was clogged and we tend to force the lob instead of
kicking it out leading to unforced turnovers.

In a game where the shots were falling especially it was the right play. What I’m excited it about is that while Anthony hasn’t fully matured mentally on the court yet, he has that killer instinct mindset to basketball. He is close to maturing at this level. Championship teams have guys like him trying to make that kind of play happen.

I was referring to game/style of play solely and not behavior/temperment.

Yeah if he can prove himself as a shot maker and overall player at his height and frame against the best competition in College. I know how many great guards there are in this class and forwards. But his height and frame alone may help him surpass a lot more of those prospects than we think.

People forget, but Hakim Warrick's senior year he was pretty amazing. First team All America.

We can’t rely on freshmen to be consistent. Kian and Sadiq are having an up and down season and struggling to adjust where they are not dominating.

We hit 3s we win. Don’t like limit turnovers at critical times. We need the PG to handle the ball. Anyone see Autry light into Nate Geargecehen we had 2 turnovers in a row. One by Donnie(I think) and the next when Kyian threw the ball out of bounds? Red was giving it to Nate George pretty good. He wants him to demand the ball at that time. JJ can’t, he turns it over easily. Not his role. Autry wants these guys to play their role. Do Your Job. We do that, we win.

Well said. Donnie a gem and a great young man. He wants so badly to win too. These are the type of kids that Red does a great job recruiting. Just wish his Xs and Os were better.

I think our offense has been very good the last few games. I also thought we played with good effort on defense. Florida State just hit a lot of threes. Sometimes that happens, and it's not necessarily just bad defense.

With a little over 2 minutes left, JJ had the ball, and FSU could have fouled him. They were down by 6 and blew their chance to stop the clock and potentially get within 3. He had the ball a few times after that. I was not confident until about 45 secs left. We got lucky

Yeah, I definitely agree. Early in the season I called him a one trick pony but I was wrong. He's shown that he can make the mid range jumper. However, when he's cooking like the last two games, he's completely focused on the 3 ball.

Is there any other camera angle that shows that bullet of an inbounds pass that George fired to Betsey at the 13:55 mark of the 1st half? Even the announcers were commenting on how hard he threw that.

Obviously the D wasn’t great but I give a lot of credit to FSU.

This team has NCAA talent. Need to see if we can overcome the early losing streak to quality teams and sadly Hofstra. That might be the killer.

i don't know, Hofstra hasn't lost in weeks and weeks and looks NCAA worthy too.

I mentioned this in the game thread. Virginia Tech is rated around the same as us in KenPom, in the low 60s/high 50s, and they have a star player from overseas whose name I can’t recall. They’re decent. They would be a Q2 win. And Miami is now up to 31 in KenPom. They’re very good, and a win won’t be easy against them. If we were to beat them and they continue to play well, that could even be a Q1 win. Next week is gonna be tough even with both games at home.

lot of incredible stats from this game:

SU shot 60% for the game...and needed all 60

shot 68% in the 2nd half! insane efficiency

FSU had 27 foul shots and Su only got 15 (I felt the reffing esp clarence armstrong was highly sus)...considering the spread was roughly 8.5 and SU only won by 8 ...its more than a little fishy

betsey was 6-8 from 3 - huge contribution...I really hope he can continue to get a good amount of shots per game bc he is locked in. credit to red for recognizing that and keeping him in most of the game

george with 13 assists and 4 TOs - whole team really needs to watch the careless passes and turnovers...14 TOs total for the team - clean that up and the efficiency can even get better from here
