Future opponents

Van I think at best we'll see 45-46k for Clemson...sad but there was no buzz in town before game time this past weekend. We need to beat Tulane by 28 pts. to get a few more CNYers to take notice. I am so pissed at how the CNY sports mind works...they are their own worst enemy.

SEC teams usually play FCS teams for their penultimate game of the season, to give their teams an easy warm-up before they play their season finale against their rivals: S. Carolina-Clemson, Florida-Florida State, UGA-GT, and so on.

Frozen...those are it, those 3 games look at the rest of the SEC and the rival games are inter-conference. Plus, those are all ACC teams they are playing so we could be doing the same thing.

Hate to jump in late here but earlier someone posted about Syracuse @ NW in 2019. I dont believe that game is 100% certain. NW does list it on there site as TBD, the original series I believe was a 4 game series 2 H and 2 A. Last weeks game should have fullfilled that contract.

The announced crowd was 33k but I don't know...what are we thinking, about 23-25K real bodies max?

I would like to see us play Colgate in the home opener every year and play a 2 home - 1 away series with Buffalo like they had in the Coach P era. I had a great time traveling to Buffalo to see a game.

I honestly think having the Cuse play in Buffalo every couple of years would help with the WNY recruiting.

I was going off of this schedule: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/acc/syracuse-orange.php

I think this season is the perfect example of why we just need to load up on cupcakes and pad our record. What exactly does scheduling the likes of Penn St and Northwestern get us? Sure they are winnable games most years, but there is still usually a good chance we can lose. Right now we are 1-2 with absolutely no buzz, slightly better then 0-2 and no pulse what so ever last week. Our home opener had maybe 28k in the seats, thanks to a good showing by the students. Most of the times we can't control when we schedule these non conference games due to so many other outside circumstances. It's not like we can just sit down and line up non conference game 1 against so and so, non conference game 2 against bla bla bla, and etc. It's like doing a puzzle trying to fit pieces together it's just not black and white. For those reasons we shouldn't take a chance scheduling 2 high end bcs schools a year. If we were 3-0 right now, but beat 3 crap teams there would definitely be some buzz heading into ACC schedule. Not even factoring in fan support there is bowl eligibility, and recruiting to concern, which have already been touched on so I want recite it again. I guess this was a waste of time though since Frazier has basically already came out and said we will continue to schedule how we currently are. IMO it's a big mistake.

Id take 46 tho for Clemson and doesnt matter if a thou are clemson fans.. should be a lot of fun... I'd be fine with 40 every week that would work... i wont stop going and have been raised on Cuse football and always believe that someday I or We as in diehard will have our moment in the sun again...

With all the bowls you have to schedule to make a bowl, extra practice time, and also recruits want to go to schools that are in them. It doesn't matter to recruits that you play 3 practice games every year, but you win enough to go bowling, [ see the jersey school].

Further, everyone is forgetting that Maryland has the full support rich uncle UnderArmour. Now I agree they aren't great right now, but UA's founder intends to make them the Oregon of the east. I'm skeptical, but if I had to pick the program with the brighter football future it would be MD.

UA is the difference maker for you? It wasn't saving MD from the deficit that caused it to have to go to the B1G. Much more important, UA will not align itself or make a difference with a MD program that is the perennial doormat rug of the B1G. It will be. Its guaranteed. They won't win 6 games a year. They won't go to bowls. They won't then get recruits. They won't compete nationally for recruits, wins, bowls, polls. SU is instead very well positioned in the conference with the most population growth potential, is likely to go to bowls, is likely to compete for the conference BCS birth regularly, and is likely to win games.

Brighter future? I'll bet on SU all day long!

You realize Kevin Plank is a Maryland grad, right? UA will absolutely be with them all of the way and working their ass off to be the Phil Knight/Nike of the east coast.

Unfortunately I would take Maryland's future if I had a choice. Their future did fall right into their lap, but either way i'd take that in a second. Football wise they are in a pretty talent rich area to build off of, and a possible future Heisman throphy candidate. Just look at what RG3 did for Baylor.

Yes I do, but it won't/can't make a difference. Oregon is great but that came because a great offensive mind made it a winner and exciting brand of football. Then they got bright unis. Then they got a huge influx of money to make incredible facilities. Maryland got the shitty new unis. Didn't help. They are not and are not going to be a winning program. UA cannot make Maryland the Oregon of the East. They will be a doormat in the B1G and UA will not make it a pet funneling 100's of millions for new lockerrooms and facilities for a shitty program.

B1G brought them money to allow them to balance their budget. They won't compete. I wouldn't want that. I'm among the many here who are more excited to be in the ACC. Maryland is in no better position to recruit than SU and when they join the B1G and end up as the doormat, they will be in a much worse position for recruiting. But, in the end it doesn't matter. SU's success will depend on how it does and not how Maryland does. I'm excited for this team.
