I’m more concerned about our defense and game day coaching. We look like we can identify talent. Monday we looked like an AAU team playing in April on a Saturday morning.

See, I'm not sure that we can identify talent yet. I want to see more. The defense was just so bad. I honestly thought, and believe me, this was no compliment, that JJ was the second best defender in our starting lineup Monday.

Are you happy with freeman? We were complaining JB didn’t have us involved with these kids. Red is. White and Kiyan is a great pull. You’re looking at worst case scenario with every player we are signing.

It’s too early. He has potential, but he’s still a work in progress like most freshman. I will tell you that people were raving about him and his defensive ability in high school, but he hasn’t shown good defensive instincts in his first three games. He is rebounding better than I expected. I worry about his ability to handle the physicality when we start playing high major teams. He has been average or worse finishing around the basket against the teams we’ve played. It’s still early. When I hear lottery pick, I expect someone who should dominate against teams we’ve just played. He didn’t even play down the stretch against LeMoyne. That’s a little concerning. I’ll admit, my expectations on how someone should play the game are very high. I would not play anyone who didn’t put out extreme effort on defense and wasn’t fundamentally sound. If someone is a five star player, I expect a lot. There‘s guys that SU has brought in over the years that I would never put on the floor. That’s just me and people don’t have to agree. Fundamentally, SU has been poor over several years. Highly skilled and fundamentally sound players who play hard can win a lot of games over superior teams. Just look at Virginia. They shouldn’t have beat a lot of teams based on talent, but coaching and fundamentals carried them.

You didn't answer the question, and I would to love to hear your answer. Why did you use the worst rating for White. The one at 48 instead of either the one at 15 or the one at 26?

Or just to pile on, why not use the RSCI rankings that average several of the top scouting services.

According to RSCI, White is 20th in his class.

The current rankings actually put Constanza somewhere between 15 and 20 nationally.

Constanza is listed as top15. Sometimes the difference between a "top15" and a "top20" is huge, sometimes it's trivial.

I will say one thing, it isn't enough to knock our players now. We have to knock our recruits before they even get here. What a great place to play. We really need to step up our fan board game. We need to start knocking the kids that we are recruiting and that are slightly even thinking about going to Syracuse. I can start it up. I go to the Hoop Hall classic every year. This year Anthony and Jordan Smith are playing. I may not be able to put Anthony on proper blast because he might have already committed but Jordan Smith, you are on the clock.

Hey buddy, I haven't caught up with Alex's Dad for a little bit, been meaning to, no reason to think that Syracuse still isn't a major player. I know Alex recently took an OV to Illinois and it went well. I'll try to get an update soon. Happy Holidays!

As far as I can tell, it's definitely an option to move to 2025 for Alex. Whether the chance is "good" or not, I honestly don't know at this time. I'll catch up with Ed soon, brother!

Historically, we haven't fared well the longer the process drags on, and the recruit gets more eyes and interested schools to join the party. Only four 2026 prospects in the 247S Composite have made verbal commitments. Plus, Alex already has a ton of suitors. I still think Syracuse is a strong contender for Constanza.
