Nah, the SAM linebacker isn’t always on the field unless we’re changing our defense

But this was poorly worded by some of our media and they’re definitely going to refer to him as a starting linebacker now and be confused when he isn’t on Saturday (unless we move to a 3 LB formation as our normal D)

They really are. Everyone lists 11 personnel on offense and their base defense, but teams stay in those formations less and less in modern football and everyone runs multiple schemes.

Guys, this is not hard. Tremble is the "starting" SAM if we ever actually use one. Which is not often. Thats why he's not on the depth chart. The SAM is totally separate from the other 2 LB spots. Its only used in specific packages for specific situations

THANK YOU! This is also why I’m not as concerned as others with the 2-way stuff. He plays defense in situations we want to play 4-3. He doesn’t need to learn the entirety of the defensive playbook.
